8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Charlie Liddell! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Thiago Cunha and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Liddell changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Liddell darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Aguiar will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Aguiar keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Liddell. Liddell throws an off balance right hand
and Aguiar connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Aguiar swats away the attempt to clinch by Liddell. Liddell throws an overhand right that lands on Aguiar's shoulder, as Aguiar tries to avoid the shot. Liddell lands a nice hook to Aguiar's body. Aguiar takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Liddell throws a hook to the side of Aguiar's head but Aguiar sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Liddell tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Aguiar was well out of range. Poor timing from Liddell. Liddell dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Liddell swings for the body but Aguiar moves out of range.
Liddell looks to land a right hand but Aguiar moved out of range. Liddell misses with an uppercut.
That's one minute gone in the round. Aguiar swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Liddell lands with a hook. Aguiar tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Aguiar uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Liddell. Aguiar throws a right and a left that both miss. Aguiar looks to land a combination but Liddell avoids it well. Liddell comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Liddell throws an overhand right that lands on Aguiar's shoulder, as Aguiar tries to avoid the shot. Liddell looks to score with a jab to the body but Aguiar is just out of range. Liddell takes a swing at Aguiar's ribcage but misses. Aguiar avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Liddell connects with a looping right hand.
Liddell throws a hook but Aguiar avoids it easily. Liddell misses the jab. Liddell missing with a left hand there. Aguiar was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Liddell slips a straight right by Aguiar. This has been an exciting period of action! Liddell stalks Aguiar and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Aguiar's face. Aguiar staggers backwards, shaken. Liddell swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Aguiar bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Liddell showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Aguiar.
Liddell loads up on a big right hand but Aguiar slips the punch. Liddell misses with a right hand and Aguiar counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. A telegraphed right hand from Liddell misses the target. Aguiar fails to land with a series of punches.
Liddell closes the distance but Aguiar moves to the side and Aguiar counters with a left and a right that stings Liddell.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Liddell misses with a straight right. Liddell throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Liddell lands with a shot to the body. Liddell throws a shot from downtown. Aguiar moves away and avoids it. Liddell looks to score with a jab to the body but Aguiar is just out of range. Aguiar connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Aguiar misses with the combination.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Aguiar misses with a looping left. Aguiar feints a jab promting Liddell to slip. Aguiar then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Liddell slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Liddell swings widly with a right hand
letting Aguiar counter with a right hand. Liddell just misses with a punch to the body.
Liddell avoids the body shot from Aguiar.
Liddell throws a jab when Aguiar was well out of range. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Aguiar lands a nice shot that snaps Liddell's head back.
Charlie Liddell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. The fighters circling - Liddell throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Liddell avoids the body shot from Aguiar.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Liddell counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Aguiar uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Liddell. Liddell misses the jab. Aguiar fails to land with a series of punches.
Aguiar has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ. Liddell lands a front kick. The fighters circling - Liddell throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Liddell comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Liddell dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Liddell swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Aguiar walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Liddell misses with an uppercut.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Aguiar with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Liddell to score with a decent uppercut. Aguiar walks into a left hand. Liddell cracks Aguiar with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Aguiar is rocked! Liddell connects with a leg kick. Aguiar looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Liddell misses the shot to the body. Liddell throws an overhand right that drops Aguiar like a sack of potatoes! Liddell dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!
