Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mathek Krol! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Blake Hay! The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Arvi Lind and Matti Vanhoillinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hay shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Hay got a little sloppy there for a moment and Krol has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hay has managed to get both his arms back between Krol's legs - danger averted. Hay is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Hay drops back, looking for a kneebar! Krol looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Krol looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Krol! Krol is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Hay is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Krol is trying to get an arm triangle but Hay is defending well. Hay is trying to get back to half guard. Krol is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hay knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Krol is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Krol is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Hay has escaped the position, nice work there. Hay is looking to reverse the position. Hay is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Krol's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Hay is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Krol pulls his head out easily.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Hay looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Hay actively working from the bottom here. Hay with the active half guard here but Krol passes nicely into side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hay tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Krol presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! Krol working for a guillotine from mount but Hay is in no mood to give up. Krol has control of Hay's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Hay regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Krol looking to secure an arm triangle but Hay defends it well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hay is desperately trying to improve his position but Krol has a good base and remains in mount. Krol really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Hay defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Krol. Hay working to try and regain half guard.
Hay tries to improve his position but Krol has taken his back! Krol has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Hay tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Krol pushes Hay away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Mathek Krol! After winning the bout, Mathek Krol thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
