Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chris The Great (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jp Benn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Benn is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Icarus by Hopesfall. Chris The Great has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 10 - 0, fighting out of London, Chris The Great!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 16 - 0, fighting out of London, Jp Benn!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, James Ackerman and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The Great doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
The Great fails with a takedown attempt.
Benn fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
The Great thows a body shot but no joy.

The Great closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Benn did well to prevent The Great getting side control.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Benn flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Benn is trying to get back to full guard.
The Great blocks the strikes from Benn.
The Great wants to pass to mount but Benn is defending the position.
The Great seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Benn does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The Great tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no The Great has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The Great is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Benn is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

That's time! The Great's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



The Great closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Benn's guard.
Benn not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Benn might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control The Great kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Benn has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. The Great is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Benn.

The Great goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Benn rolls with the submission and now he's on top in The Great's guard! Nice work there by Benn!

The Great has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Benn can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The Great working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Benn doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Benn manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Benn wants to get up but he can't break The Great's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Benn passes The Great's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Benn is just content to waste time from the top position. The Great takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Benn trying to control the position from guard on top but The Great is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The Great seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The Great is looking for a triangle here but Benn uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Benn stands up and we're back to a striking position.

The Great keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
The Great scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Benn doesn't seem bothered though.
The Great shoots in looking for a takedown. Benn tries to sprawl out of it but The Great keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Benn manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Benn jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Benn lands a nice shot that snaps The Great's head back.
Benn throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Benn loads up on a big right hand but The Great slips the punch.
Benn fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches The Great on the side of the head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The Great takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
The Great misses with a shot to the body
and Benn makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Jp Benn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The Great swings for the body but Benn moves out of range.

The Great shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Benn tries for a takedown but The Great sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Benn has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Benn there as he acknowledges the shot.
Benn smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Benn lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but The Great circles away quickly and effectively.
Benn takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Benn has a takedown stuffed.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from The Great is defended easily by Benn.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chris The Great. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Benn throws out a loose jab but The Great uses good head movement to avoid it.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Benn throws a push kick but The Great slaps the foot to one side.

The Great shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Benn manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Jp Benn showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Benn keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Benn missing with a left hand there. The Great was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Benn tried to score with a low kick but The Great checks it.
Benn shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. The Great defends it nicely.

The Great shoots in but Benn avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Benn bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in The Great's guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Benn postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! The Great is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Benn, into his guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The Great looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Benn kicks off The Great and gets to his feet.
The Great misses with a takedown attempt - Benn sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Chris The Great.
