Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mike Mintz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lyoto Shogun (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lyoto Shogun has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mike Mintz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Lyoto Shogun ! The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Johanna Lukiainen and Ben Zyskovitsi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shogun throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Shogun misses with a series of wild punches.
Mintz shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Mintz prevents Shogun from getting back to his feet. Mintz stands and steps away. Shogun gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Shogun tries a head kick but it misses.
No joy there for Shogun , who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Mintz tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Shogun paws at him with a jab and circles away. Shogun feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Mintz's calf. Mintz showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Shogun .

Shogun is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Shogun can't break the clinch.

Mintz closes the distance and clinches. Mintz is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Shogun can't fight it off and eventually Mintz manages to take the fight to the floor. Shogun looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Mintz won't allow Shogun to get back to his feet. Mintz wants to control from the top but Shogun keeps moving. Mintz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shogun swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mintz trying to control the position from guard on top but Shogun is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Shogun is looking to stand up but Mintz isn't so interested in that idea. Shogun looks gassed! Mintz works a leg free and moves into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Still in half guard, Mintz seems content to control. Mintz passes to full mount!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shogun wants to get back to his feet.
Mintz looking to control and managing it successfully. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Mintz seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Shogun for as long as he can get away with. Mintz looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mintz thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. Mintz unloads with some shots from mount but Shogun bucks and avoids them well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. You get the feeling that Shogun really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Mintz wants to finish this one by submission but Shogun is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Mintz. Mintz punching from mount but Shogun doing a good job of avoiding damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mike Mintz dominated that round. That's time! Mintz's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Mintz tries to close the distance and clinch but Shogun swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Mintz takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Mintz is rocked! Mintz fails with a takedown attempt. Oh Mintz is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Mintz blocks a head kick by Shogun .
Shogun looks to land a combination but Mintz avoids it well. Mintz seems to have got his legs back now. Lyoto Shogun seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Shogun misses with a series of wild punches.
Shogun looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Shogun swats away the attempt to clinch by Mintz. Shogun looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Mike Mintz is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Mintz dodges the punch combination from Shogun .
Mintz fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Shogun , pushing him back against the cage. Shogun is looking to break free of the clinch but Mintz has double underhooks. Mintz landing knees to the body.
Shogun is working Mintz over against the cage. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Shogun on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Shogun is trying to break free. Mintz unloads a knee to the mid-section. Shogun lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shogun wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Mintz shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Mintz was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Mintz throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Shogun is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Mintz swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
