Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Blue Belt! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Shael Connen! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Atkins and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Connen gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Belt counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Belt. Belt wants to control from the top but Connen keeps moving. Belt engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Connen is working an open guard so Belt takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Belt drives through and clinches with Connen against the cage.
Belt tries to circle away but Connen has him pinned against the cage. Belt gets control of Connen's arms and successfully pulls guard. Belt will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Connen throwing strikes but missing. Connen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Belt. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Connen makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Connen wants to control from the top but Belt keeps moving. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Connen preventing the sweep. Belt bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Connen's guard. Connen has his feet on Belt's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. Connen looks for a takedown but Belt sprawls well. Connen misses with a takedown attempt - Belt sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Blue Belt has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shael Connen.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Belt stuffs the takedown. Belt tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Connen was well out of range. Poor timing from Belt. Belt shoots and misses and Connen counters with a single leg into guard. Belt didn't expect that. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Belt is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Connen defends well. Connen wants to control from the top but Belt keeps moving. Connen pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Belt is keeping the position for now. Belt is looking for a triangle but Connen pushes his legs off easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Belt looking for a guillotine here but Connen defends easily.
Belt controls Connen momentarily but Connen frees himself. Connen trying to control the position from guard on top but Belt is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Belt wants to stand and escape but Connen is having none of it. Connen pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Belt is keeping the position for now. Connen throwing strikes from guard but Belt blocks nicely.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Connen looking to sit in guard and control but Belt gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Belt won't allow Connen to sweep him here. Belt wanted to stand there but Connen had control of the position. Connen tries to land a sweep but no joy. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Belt looking to pass the guard. Connen tries to land a sweep but no joy. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Blue Belt will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Connen doesn't succeed with the takedown and Belt counters with a takedown into side control. Connen tries to get back to half guard but can't. Belt trying to control the position but Connen is working away. Connen is looking to regain half guard here but Belt keeps moving and retains side control. Belt is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Connen has escaped the position, nice work there. Belt wants to lay and pray for a moment but Connen keeps working.
That's one minute gone in the round. Belt decides to stand back up. Blue Belt is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Connen has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Belt tries to clinch up but Connen circles away and keeps his distance. Belt swinging wildly here.
Belt fails with an attempt to clinch.
Belt shoots in looking for a takedown but Connen manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Belt's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Connen closes this distance looking for a takedown but Belt circles away. Belt lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Connen darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Connen works his foot free and advances to mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Connen tries to control but Belt wriggling away. Belt is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Belt is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. Connen pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Belt tries to reverse the position but Connen maintains control. Connen lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Connen dominating with strikes here. Connen wants to control but instead Belt manages to regain half guard. Belt keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Connen trying to mount his opponent but Belt defends it. Belt has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Connen is working away from the top position though. Connen is trying to work for a kimura but Belt is defending well.
Connen with the ground and pound but Belt uses the opportunity to regain guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Connen stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Belt throws up his legs and catches Connen in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Connen tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Belt! That came out of nowhere!
