Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, James Turner! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Vinnie St Croix! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Alec Ball and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! St Croix will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Nice takedown defense from Turner. No joy for St Croix on that attempt. Turner swats away the attempt to clinch by St Croix. St Croix misses with a takedown attempt - Turner sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. James Turner has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vinnie St Croix. No luck for St Croix with that takedown attempt. Turner gets a clinch. Turner pulls St Croix into guard.

But Turner has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Turner! Turner wants to control from the top but St Croix keeps moving. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. St Croix is looking for a triangle but Turner pushes his legs off easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Turner postures up in St Croix's guard and throws a big left but St Croix blocks it. Turner wants to pass the guard but St Croix is keeping the position. Turner passes into half guard. Turner throwing shots but St Croix is blocking nicely. Turner is trying to work for a kimura but St Croix is defending well.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Turner shoots for a takedown but St Croix saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Turner throws a head kick that misses. St Croix punishes Turner's body with a nice straight punch. St Croix shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. St Croix with shots to the head and body - Turner looks very uncomfortable down there. Turner is looking to improve his position but St Croix isn't that keen on the idea. Turner gets back to half guard. Turner is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Turner regains full guard. Nicely done. St Croix postures up.

That was a close round but I would say that James Turner will probably get the nod. That's time! Turner's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
St Croix tries for a takedown but Turner circles away easily and Turner counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. St Croix doesn't succeed with the takedown and Turner counters with a head kick. That will keep St Croix thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

St Croix doesn't succeed with the takedown and Turner decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in St Croix's guard. James Turner has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vinnie St Croix. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Turner slips nicely into half guard. The fighters are battling for position here. St Croix manages to regain full guard. Nice work. St Croix manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Turner manages to get himself to full guard.

St Croix is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. St Croix passes to side control. St Croix tries for a kimura but Turner is defending well. The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Turner tries to land a front kick but St Croix steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. St Croix looks to clinch and Turner counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Turner escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

St Croix misses with a takedown attempt and Turner counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters. Turner pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Turner keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Turner stuffs the takedown. Excellent takedown into side control there by St Croix. Turner tries to buck St Croix off but St Croix is having none of it. St Croix tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no St Croix has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Vinnie St Croix has got the better of the ground game so far. Turner gets back to half guard.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Turner has his foot on St Croix's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. St Croix works his way back into a safe position though. Turner is trying to control the position but St Croix postures up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Turner is trying to control the action in half guard but St Croix is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Turner seems to be looking for submissions.
