Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rick James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Hunt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hunt comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Why Do Good Girls Like Bad Guys? kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Rick James has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rick James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mike Hunt!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Eddie Farnsworth and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Hunt has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
James tries a head kick but it misses.
Hunt moves out of range of the body kick from James.
James tries to clinch but Hunt is having none of it.

Hunt throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. James was covering up waiting for the punch and Hunt finishes the takedown easily into guard.
James pulls Hunt in close to prevent any damage.
James wants to get back to his feet but Hunt is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
James avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
James keeping moving, preventing Hunt from controlling successfully.
James tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Hunt in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
James wants to sweep but no luck.
Hunt trying to control but James is working from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Hunt lands a straight punch to the body, keeping James at a distance.
James is looking to land body kicks.

Hunt drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Hunt prevents James from getting back to his feet.
Hunt loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
James wants to stand but Hunt is controlling the position.
Hunt has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
James is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

James is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hunt is looking for a sweep. James is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

James postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Hunt to stand up.
James scores with a decent looking hook.
Hunt closes the distance and clinches up with James, looking for a takedown. Hunt pushes James against the cage but James circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Rick James is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Hunt throws a big shot that misses.
James is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
A slow jab from James misses its intended target.

Hunt tries a low kick but James avoids it.
James drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
James throws a head kick that misses.
Hunt is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
James wants to clinch but Hunt slips to the side
and Hunt counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Hunt throws a body punch but James moves out of range.
Hunt throws a solid leg kick but James takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Hunt.

Hunt gets tackled into the cage by James. James maintains the clinch.
James lands a knee to the body.
James lands a body shot.
James lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
A shot in the inside from James.
James throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Hunts head.

A head punch blocked on the inside by James.
James throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Hunt blocks it with crossed arms.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
James avoiding damage.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Hunt.
James misses with a knee strike.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
James lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Hunt backwards.
James lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Hunt backwards.
James wants to stall.
James misses with a knee to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

James bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
James looks to land a body kick but Hunt moved away.
Hunt throws a looping overhand right but James ducks down to avoid it.
James scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Hunt swats away the attempt to clinch by James.
James wants to clinch up but Hunt keeps it at a distance.
Hunt closes this distance looking for a takedown but James circles away.
Hunt moves out of range of the body kick from James.

Hunt just misses with a punch to the body.
James fails with an attempt to clinch.
James scores with a nice right hand.
Hunt chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before James can pounce on him.

James tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hunt swats him away and circles back towards the center.
James throws a body kick that misses.
James works Hunt's body with a nice hook.
Hunt throws a looping overhand right but James ducks down to avoid it.
James scores with a push kick.
Hunt throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Hunt throws a predictable looking body shot
and James makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Mike Hunt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
James steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Hunt.
James fails in his attempt to clinch.
Hunt checks the leg kick nicely there.
James throws a head kick that half lands.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
James misses with an attempted mid kick.
James is looking to clinch.

Hunt shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in James's guard.
Hunt trying to control the position from guard on top but James is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
James will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
James is looking to stand up but Hunt isn't so interested in that idea.
Hunt looking to sit in guard and control but James gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

James is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

Hunt is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Hunt with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling James to score with a decent uppercut.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Hunt can't get the takedown.

James unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Hunt blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Hunt drops down looking for an ankle pick but James pulls his leg out and moves away.

James lunges at Hunt with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Hunt's hand.

Hunt takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Hunt throws a poor cross that misses
and James counters with a head kick. That will keep Hunt thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

and James counters with a nice kick to the body.

James tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hunt paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Hunt tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Mike Hunt has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

James clinches with his opponent.

James drops Hunt with a big knee straight up the middle! Hunt is covering up against the cage but manages to escape and gets back to his feet!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Look low, kick high! James uses the oldest trick in the book to send Hunt tumbling to the canvas, in a truly brutal knockout! James is absolutely delighted - when Hunt wakes up, I doubt he'll be quite so happy!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:52 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Rick James!
Rick James decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
