Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kieran Foster! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Demetrious Johnson Jr! The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Viktor Lagutenko and Valeri Chadov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Foster rushes Johnson Jr and presses him up against the cage. Foster pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. Foster breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Johnson Jr fails with a takedown attempt. Foster shoots in but Johnson Jr avoids the takedown attempt easily. Johnson Jr misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Foster.
Foster shoots in looking for a takedown but Johnson Jr manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Foster's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Johnson Jr tries to close the distance and clinch but Foster swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Foster tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Johnson Jr swivels and escapes. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kieran Foster. That's going to take a lot out of him. Johnson Jr pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Foster throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. Johnson Jr has a takedown stuffed. Foster looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson Jr circles away from the clinch attempt.
Johnson Jr scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Foster trying to remain calm as Johnson Jr controls from the top position. Johnson Jr stands up and we're back to a striking position. Foster really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Foster misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Johnson Jr throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Foster gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Johnson Jr advances to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Johnson Jr maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Foster could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Johnson Jr has cracked it and Foster is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Johnson Jr!
