PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Drew Schilling (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alessi Amicci (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Drew Schilling!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alessi Amicci!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Russell Pearce and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Amicci with a lazy takedown attempt

so Schilling counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Schilling throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Schilling works over Amicci with some ground and pound from guard.
Schilling throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Amicci works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Schilling trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Schilling could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Schilling accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Schilling is pushing down on Amicci's leg trying to pass to half guard. Amicci is fighting to maintain full guard but Schilling has managed to sneak the leg through.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Well, if Schilling is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Amicci trying to hold on to Schilling's head to control him but Schilling postures up.
Schilling lands strikes from half guard.
Schilling is taking a breather. Amicci says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Schilling scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Amicci regains full guard. Nicely done.
Schilling trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Amicci is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Schilling defends well.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Schilling wants to pass the guard but Amicci is keeping the position.

Schilling has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Amicci looking for a guillotine here but Schilling defends easily.
Amicci manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Amicci throwing strikes here but Schilling is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Schilling wants to control but Amicci is having none of it.
Schilling bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Schilling distracts Amicci with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Amicci controls Schilling momentarily but Schilling frees himself.
Schilling postures up in Amicci's guard and throws a big left but Amicci blocks it.
Schilling slips nicely into half guard.
Schilling performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Amicci wants to control but Schilling is keeping busy and won't allow it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Amicci tries to roll over but Schilling keeps him under control.
Schilling seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Amicci is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Schilling scores with a couple of nice shots.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action!


Amicci throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Schilling's waist but Schilling gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Amicci off to one side.


It looks like Alessi Amicci has been cut.
Schilling shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Amicci but Amicci pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Amicci tries to bum rush Schilling with a series of wild strikes but Schilling uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Amicci fails in his attempt to clinch.

Schilling shoots in and bounces Amicci off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Schilling passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Schilling lands some shots froms side control.
Amicci is looking to reverse the position.
Amicci looking for a sweep but Schilling has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Schilling controlling from the full mount.
Schilling looking to finish Amicci with some ground and pound. This is bad for Amicci!
Amicci tries to reverse the position but Schilling maintains control.
Schilling postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Amicci in real trouble here! The ref calls for Amicci to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Drew Schilling!
