Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Janis Petke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 22 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jack Spat!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Igor Prikhodko and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Spat fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Petke, pushing him back against the cage.
Spat misses with a hook from the clinch.
A right hook to the body lands for Spat.
Spat working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Spat has Petke pressed against the cage.

Petke manages to pull guard.
Spat's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Petke looking to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Spat looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Petke looks to clinch
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Spat dives in and scores a takedown into Petke's guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Spat with a flurry of punches that miss.
Spat has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Petke wants to stand and escape but Spat is having none of it.

Spat is taking a breather. Petke says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Spat seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Spat perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Spat slips a nice elbow through Petke's hands, connecting with Petke's forehead.
Petke is trying to control but can't.
Spat is taking a breather. Petke says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Spat looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Spat looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jack Spat hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Spat blocks a leg kick.
Petke moves in looking to clinch but Spat pushes him off.
Spat shoots in for a takedown but Petke shows good takedown defense.
A head kick misses from Petke.
Spat is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Jack Spat seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Petke.
Spat stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Spat wants it to stay on the feet.

Petke gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Spat holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Janis Petke. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Spat is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Petke is defending well for now.
Petke lands with a light punch inside.
Spat pushes Petke back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Petke fails to pull guard.
Petke wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Spat has him pressed against the cage.

Spat breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Petke tries to clinch up but Spat circles away and keeps his distance.
Nice sprawl there from Petke as Spat shoots in.

Petke shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Spat as he jumps to the side.

Spat rushes Petke and presses him up against the cage.
Spat tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Petke tries to score a body lock takedown but Spat shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Spat gets underhooks to prevent Petke's takedown attempt.
Petke is trying to pull guard but Spat turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Good anti-grappling being displayed by Petke as Spat tries to tie him up.
Spat lands with a short head shot on the inside.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Spat is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Petke wants to get back to striking at distance but Spat won't allow it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Spat shoots in looking for a takedown. Petke tries to sprawl out of it but Spat keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Petke manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Spat wants to clinch

and Petke counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Spat is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Petke is defending well for now.
Petke tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Petke fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Spat looking to slow down the pace here.
Spat is struggling to control the position.
Spat is looking to control Petke's arms but Petke gets an underhook and turns him. Now Spat has his back to the cage.
Nice body punch from Spat - that landed with a thud.
Petke blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Spat misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Petke is trying to pull guard but Spat turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Spat lands a hook that snaps the head of Petke backwards.

Petke wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Spat's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Jack Spat.
Petke takes a head kick and keeps coming.


It looks like Janis Petke has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Petke tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Spat manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Petke shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Spat but Spat pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Spat closes the distance and pushes Petke back into the cage.
Petke tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Spat misses with a hook from the clinch.
Spat working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Spat lands a hook to the side of the head.


Petke is rocked!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Spat has Petke pressed up against the cage in a tight Thai clinch. Petke is arching his back, trying to avoid the knees but a big one sneaks through from Spat - that's hurt Petke badly! Oh, another knee lands and Petke is covering up! The referee steps in to save him - possibly a bit early but Petke doesn't seem to be complaining.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:09 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Knees). Jack Spat!
Jack Spat seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
