Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Frank Trig (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Staunton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Frank Trig has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Frank Trig!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Steve Staunton!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Trig has taken the fight to the clinch.

Trig pulls guard effortlessly.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Trig pulls Staunton in close to prevent any damage.
Staunton wants to pass the guard but Trig is keeping the position.
Staunton trying to control the position from guard on top but Trig is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Trig is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Staunton defends well.
Trig wants to sweep but no luck.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Trig holds on and takes a little breather.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Trig wants to stand but Staunton is controlling the position.
Staunton trying to control but Trig is working from the bottom.
Trig seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Steve Staunton.
Trig scores with a three punch combo!
Staunton shoots in for a double leg but Trig sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Trig manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Staunton on his heels. He'll look to pass Staunton's guard now, I'm sure.
Staunton looking to hit a scissor sweep but Trig is one step ahead there.
Trig passes Staunton's left leg - he's now in half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Staunton looks like he's trying to stand up.
Trig with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Trig trying to pass the guard but Staunton defending well.
The fighters are battling for position here. Staunton manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Trig stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Staunton swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Staunton wants to stand and escape but Trig is having none of it.

Staunton manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Staunton avoids the attempt from Trig to control.
Trig is looking to get to half guard.
Trig bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Trig trying to control the position from guard on top but Staunton is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Staunton is working an open guard so Trig takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Staunton tries to score a power double leg takedown but Trig sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Staunton somewhat.
Horrible takedown by Staunton or perhaps it was just good defense by Trig which made him look bad.
Frank Trig has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Steve Staunton.

Trig fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Staunton sprawls well initially but Trig persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Staunton is defending against the submission attempts here by Trig.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Trig is looking to take a break and control but Staunton is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action!



Trig is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Staunton's half guard.

Staunton is looking for a sweep. Trig is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Staunton tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Trig has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Trig controlling his opponent.

Staunton wants to hold on but Trig pushes him away.
Trig tries to control but Staunton wriggling away.

Staunton is trying desperately to improve position.

Trig has control of Staunton's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Staunton regains control of the situation pretty easily.
The referee warns Staunton that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Staunton tries to hold on but Trig pushes him away.

Trig is working for a guillotine from mount but Staunton frees his head quite easily.
Staunton tries to reverse the position but Trig maintains control.
Staunton is in a horrible position here. Trig smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Staunton is trying desperately to improve position.
Staunton tries to hold on but Trig postures up.
Trig landing shots from mount.
Staunton tries to hold on but Trig postures up.
Trig postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Staunton looks a forlorn figure.


Staunton is rocked!
Staunton swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Staunton is still in real trouble! Can Trig finish him?
Trig scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Staunton tries to hold on but Trig postures up.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Trig content just to control the position here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Trig loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Staunton scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Trig land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Trig stands and salutes the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Frank Trig!
