Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Mario Caribeam!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, AJ Thompson!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, James Atkins and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thompson shoots and misses

and Caribeam counters with a nice double leg into side control. Thompson won't be happy with that.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Thompson tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Caribeam in side control lands a decent elbow.
Thompson can't do much from the bottom here.

Caribeam decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Thompson tries to keep at a distance but Caribeam has taken the fight into the clinch.

Caribeam pulls guard effortlessly.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Caribeam pulls Thompson in close to prevent any damage.

Caribeam pushes Thompson off and scrambles back to his feet.

Thompson throws a sloppy head kick and Caribeam moves out of range easily.

Caribeam throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Thompson was covering up waiting for the punch and Caribeam finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Thompson is working an open guard so Caribeam takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
No joy there for Thompson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Thompson tries to clinch

and Caribeam counters by moving into the clinch.
Thompson is trying to drag Caribeam to the mat but Caribeam just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Caribeam has clasped his hands together around Thompson's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Caribeam is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Thompson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Caribeam lands some shots froms side control.
An elbow from Caribeam crashes against the mat.
Thompson is looking to reverse the position.
Caribeam creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Caribeam tries to score with some ground and pound. Thompson controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

and Caribeam counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Thompson wants to stand and escape but instead Caribeam has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Thompson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Thompson is trying to control but can't.

Caribeam decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Thompson is looking to improve his position.

Caribeam is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Thompson defends it well.

Caribeam looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Caribeam shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Thompson napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Caribeam decides to stand back up. Caribeam steps back and let's Thompson get back to his feet.

Caribeam swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Caribeam tries to clinch but Thompson moves out of range.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Thompson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Caribeam is looking for a sweep. Thompson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Mario Caribeam overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Thompson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Caribeam does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Thompson drops back, looking for a kneebar! Caribeam looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Caribeam looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Caribeam!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Thompson lands a jab-cross combination.
AJ Thompson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Mario Caribeam is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Thompson bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Caribeam's head backwards.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mario Caribeam showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Caribeam, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
