The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Lou da Vinci and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cypress wants to clinch.
Cypress looks to land a right hand but Konifka moved out of range.
Konifka takes one to the side of the head.
Cypress wants to clinch
and Konifka counters with a head kick.
Cypress shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Konifka sprawls well. Konifka wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Cypress gets slowly back to his feet.
Konifka leaves Cypress with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Cypress slaps away a takedown attempt from Konifka, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Konifka forces Cypress back against the cage and clinches.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Konifka can't find room to land a body shot as Cypress controls the action.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cypress can do anything to dispel that myth.
Konifka got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cypress has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Konifka has managed to get both his arms back between Cypress's legs - danger averted.

Cypress shoots in for a takedown but Konifka shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Cypress wants to clinch up but Konifka keeps it at a distance.
