The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shinoda fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Reynolds sprawls well initially but Shinoda persists and gets the takedown into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Reynolds looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Shinoda seems to be working for a kimura but Reynolds defends the submission attempt. Reynolds is trying to stand back up but Shinoda is controlling him
Reynolds won't allow Shinoda to pass to mount. Reynolds slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Shinoda throws a sloppy strike and Reynolds has hooked up an armbar on the loose arm! He's turned and extended fully! Shinoda is forced to tap! Great BJJ from Reynolds!
