Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mattia Nicoletti! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, AK Fo Seven! The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Anni Minnemäki and Ben Zyskovitsi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fo Seven goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Nicoletti pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Fo Seven delivers a nice body kick. Nicoletti moves out of range of the body kick. Nicoletti scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Fo Seven doesn't seem bothered though. Fo Seven darts in and clinches Nicoletti up against the cage. Nicoletti lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
It looks like AK Fo Seven has been cut. Nicoletti tries to land knees in the clinch but Fo Seven avoids the damage to the body. Fo Seven missing with knees to the body.
Nicoletti looks to throw an elbow but misses. Nicoletti lands an elbow that stopped Fo Seven in his tracks for a moment. Fo Seven blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Fo Seven takes an elbow to the forehead. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Nicoletti looks to throw an elbow but misses. Fo Seven on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Fo Seven is looking to control Nicoletti's arms but Nicoletti gets an underhook and turns him. Now Fo Seven has his back to the cage. Fo Seven avoids a wild elbow strike from Nicoletti. Both guys are working to get underhooks. Nicoletti lands an elbow inside that Fo Seven shrugs off. Fo Seven escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Fo Seven wants to clinch up but Nicoletti keeps it at a distance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fo Seven takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Nicoletti gets a double leg takedown into Fo Seven's guard. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Nicoletti passes Fo Seven's left leg - he's now in half guard. Nicoletti moves into full mount! Fo Seven won't be happy about that! Nicoletti controlling the pace for now. Nicoletti mounts Fo Seven! Really nice guard pass there! Fo Seven's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Nicoletti trying to control but he's not successful this time. Nicoletti moves to take his opponent's back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Nicoletti has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Fo Seven is defending well but eventually Nicoletti manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Fo Seven has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Mattia Nicoletti! After winning the bout, Mattia Nicoletti thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
