Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Josh Reyes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Naoki Yoshikuni (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Naoki Yoshikuni will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Josh Reyes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Naoki Yoshikuni!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Robert Twigg and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yoshikuni scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Yoshikuni stuffs the takedown.
Yoshikuni throws a right and a left that Reyes avoids nicely.
Yoshikuni tries to clinch there but Reyes circles away.

Reyes looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Reyes tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Yoshikuni swivels and escapes.

Naoki Yoshikuni seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Yoshikuni throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Yoshikuni stuffs the takedown attempt from Reyes. Reyes gets slowly back to his feet.
Yoshikuni tries to bum rush Reyes with a series of wild strikes but Reyes uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Reyes feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Reyes is persistently looking for the submission but Yoshikuni is defending it well.

Yoshikuni rolls, trying to escape but Reyes keeps control of the position.

Reyes doesn't have the hooks in and Yoshikuni manages to turn into his guard.

Yoshikuni goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Reyes rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Yoshikuni's guard! Nice work there by Reyes!
Yoshikuni tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Reyes drops back looking for a leg! Yoshikuni is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Yoshikuni manages to kick Reyes off! Reyes jumps back into Yoshikuni's guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Yoshikuni has his foot on Reyes's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Reyes works his way back into a safe position though.

Yoshikuni has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Reyes is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Yoshikuni.

Reyes is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Yoshikuni is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Reyes looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Yoshikuni is fending him off so far but Reyes persists. Nope, Yoshikuni circles away and we're back to standing.
Yoshikuni throws a right and a left that Reyes avoids nicely.
Yoshikuni stuffs the takedown attempt from Reyes. Reyes gets slowly back to his feet.
Reyes closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Josh Reyes is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Yoshikuni gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Reyes looking to secure an arm triangle but Yoshikuni defends it well.
Reyes forces the positional change into back control.

I really don't envy Yoshikuni right now.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Reyes has one arm under Yoshikuni 's neck. Yoshikuni is controlling the other arm well. He's just looking to survive right now. Reyes manages to get his arm free though and Yoshikuni is in a world of trouble! Reyes sinks in the hooks and squeezes! Yoshikuni turns purple and then goes limp. The referee steps in to end the bout!
