Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Mathison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maxipad McGavin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mathison comes to the cage accompanied by The Sickness. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, David Mathison! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Maxipad McGavin! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Steve Montenegro and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McGavin drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. McGavin throws a strike but Mathison rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Mathison will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. McGavin tries to land a sweep but no joy. Mathison has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of McGavin is proving hard to escape from. Mathison stands up from McGavin's guard - Mathison perhaps looking for a knockout. McGavin shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Mathison is trying to defend but McGavin finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Mathison tries to roll over but McGavin keeps him under control.
That's one minute gone in the round. McGavin is keen to just control but Mathison is a slippery customer. McGavin not landing any meaningful shots this time. McGavin is figuring out what he wants to do next. McGavin is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. McGavin wants to control but Mathison is keeping him busy. Mathison is looking to get back to is feet but McGavin passes into side control.
McGavin trying to control the position but Mathison is working away. McGavin in side control, just content to control the action for now. McGavin's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McGavin scores with punches from side control. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. McGavin wants to control but Mathison is keeping him busy. McGavin scores with a couple of short elbows. Mathison takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. A lull in the action here as McGavin stalls from top position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McGavin in side control lands a decent elbow. McGavin working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
McGavin lands a few punches from side control. McGavin should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Mathison is breathing heavily. Mathison takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. McGavin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mathison. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. McGavin looks up at the clock and then as Mathison takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, McGavin smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Mathison is trying to improve his position. McGavin working the head with strikes. Mathison on the wrong end of some ground and pound. McGavin controls the position from side control. McGavin trying to control the position but Mathison is working away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mathison taking punishment in the form of punches.

McGavin scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Mathison to see if he's OK. McGavin cracks Mathison with a big elbow. McGavin lands an elbow. McGavin controlling from side mount. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! McGavin creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Maxipad McGavin dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
McGavin fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Mathison avoids it really well and circles away. McGavin looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. McGavin tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Mathison swivels and escapes. David Mathison has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Maxipad McGavin. McGavin shoots in for a takedown but Mathison shows good takedown defense. Mathison tries to clinch there but McGavin circles away.
McGavin fails with the takedown and Mathison counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Mathison seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but McGavin does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. McGavin wants to control but Mathison is keeping busy and won't allow it. McGavin manages to get to full guard.
McGavin keeping moving, preventing Mathison from controlling successfully. McGavin has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. McGavin is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We're going to have a standup here because David Mathison wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Mathison fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. McGavin gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Mathison counters with a nice low kick that buckles McGavin's knee momentarily. Mathison is looking to clinch. McGavin is trying hard to land a takedown here. Mathison sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. McGavin drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McGavin controlling the position. Mathison takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
McGavin lands a nice forearm strike. McGavin scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Mathison to see if he's OK. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Mathison wants to get back to his feet. Mathison taking a bit of punishment here - McGavin scoring with strikes. McGavin taking a breather here. McGavin cracks Mathison with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Mathison tries to buck McGavin off but McGavin is having none of it. Check out the look on McGavin's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Mathison on the wrong end of some ground and pound. A lull in the action here. We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - McGavin has eaten all the pies! Mathison looks to move to half guard but instead McGavin has passed into mount! Damn! McGavin takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. McGavin lands a big elbow.
That's four minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! McGavin connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
McGavin controlling from the full mount. Mathison in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. McGavin is in the full mount, landing strikes. McGavin looking to control and managing it successfully. McGavin trying to control but Mathison is having none of it. McGavin is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Mathison can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Mathison is rocked! The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! McGavin cracks Mathison with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
