PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lil Cholo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luis Fierro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cholo comes to the cage accompanied by Compton City G's. Luis Fierro told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lil Cholo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Luis Fierro! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cholo fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Cholo falls off balance throwing a combination
and Fierro counters with a nice uppercut. Fierro is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Cholo throws a left and a right that both miss
enabling Fierro to counter with a crisp jab. Cholo swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Cholo throws a combination that misses and Fierro counters with a nice double leg into side control. Cholo won't be happy with that. This has been an exciting period of action! The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Fierro stands up and beckons Cholo to his feet. Cholo throws a combination that misses and Fierro counters with a leg kick then a big left hand that sends Cholo down! Fierro is looking to finish but Cholo is intelligently defending himself.
Cholo is rocked! Fierro wants to control from the top but Cholo keeps moving. Oh Cholo is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Cholo seems to have got his legs back now.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Luis Fierro was stalling too much, according to the referee. Cholo swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Fierro connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Cholo swinging wildly here.
Fierro listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Cholo lands a jab-cross combination. Fierro moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Cholo swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
enabling Fierro to counter with a crisp jab. Cholo throws a right and a left that both miss. Fierro slips a jab and a cross from Cholo.
A left and a right from Cholo both land. Nice combination.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cholo throws a series of punches but Fierro avoids them all with ease. Cholo is breathing heavily. Fierro staying out of range there. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Cholo swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Fierro counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. The crowd cheers as Fierro lands an impressive looking overhand right. Cholo doesn't seem phased though. Cholo throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Fierro counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Fierro sitting and controlling from the half guard. Fierro wants to stand up but Cholo is controlling the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cholo is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Fierro's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Fierro's back! Fierro defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Cholo's arms. Cholo looking for the RNC. Cholo has his opponent's back and is working for the choke. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Cholo controlling well, preventing Fierro from escaping the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cholo not allowing Fierro to control his hands. Cholo has the hooks in. Fierro is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Cholo is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Cholo looking for the RNC. Fierro showing good submission defense here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Luis Fierro will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

letting Fierro counter with a right hand. Cholo throws a poor cross that misses
and Fierro counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Cholo throws a combination that misses and Fierro counters with a lovely shot to the body. Cholo takes a jab right on the kisser.

and Fierro counters by clinching up. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Fierro tries for a takedown. No joy.
Cholo is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fierro lands a right hand. A nice left hand lands by Fierro.
Fierro looks to throw an elbow but misses. Fierro breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Cholo misses with a combination
and Fierro counters with a lovely straight right hand! Cholo throws a left and a right that both miss
and Fierro counters with a series of strikes that sends Cholo to the canvas! Fierro follows down into guard, looking to finish the fight! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Cholo escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Fierro gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fierro looking to pass the guard. Cholo keeping moving, preventing Fierro from controlling successfully. Fierro trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Luis Fierro hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Cholo rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Fierro moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Cholo throws a combination that misses and Fierro counters with a series of strikes. Cholo will be more careful next time no doubt. Cholo misses with a series of wild punches.
Lil Cholo is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Cholo misses with a two punch combination.
Cholo moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Cholo throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Fierro counters with a straight right hand. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Fierro has cracked Cholo with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Fierro lands another huge swinging hook and Cholo tumbles to the canvas! The ref dives in to save Cholo, before Fierro can land any more shots!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:51 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Luis Fierro!
