Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ray Gardner! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Adam Fitch! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fitch throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Fitch throws a left and a right that both miss
so Gardner counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Gardner throwing strikes from guard but Fitch blocks nicely. Gardner throws a big elbow that misses. Gardner lands a couple of decent looking shots. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Gardner postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Gardner stands and throws Fitch's legs to the side, diving into side control. Fitch is looking to regain half guard here but Gardner keeps moving and retains side control. Fitch is pushing Gardner's head away, looking to escape. Gardner manages to hold on to the position though. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Gardner looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Fitch is avoiding damage well.
Fitch tries to buck Gardner off but Gardner is having none of it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. An elbow from Gardner crashes against the mat.
Gardner is chipping away with strikes.
Fitch wants to get back to his feet. Fitch managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Gardner.
Gardner looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Fitch is avoiding damage well.
That's one minute gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Fitch's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Gardner lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Fitch down.
Gardner working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Fitch takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Fitch is rocked! Fitch is trying to get back to his feet. Gardner creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Fitch sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gardner is putting a hurting on Fitch here, landing some big shots from side control. Fitch is still in real trouble! Can Gardner finish him? This has been an exciting period of action! Gardner lands a strong strike to the head of Fitch. That's dazed him! Gardner looking to finish here. Fitch is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Gardner lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!
