PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Tyson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jaz One (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tyson comes to the cage accompanied by Training Song. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Shigeki Sano and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tyson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but One moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
One avoids a punch combination nicely.
One blocks the body kick.
Tyson could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
The fight stays on the outside here - One looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
One will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Tyson lands the left hand.
Tyson swats away the attempt to clinch by One.
Tyson misses with a jab, cross combination.
Tyson comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Tyson checks a low kick from One.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
One doesn't manage to clinch there - Tyson circles away.
Tyson keeps the fight on the outside.

One tries to stall but Tyson uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Tyson jumps guard but One stands there with Tyson around his waist. Tyson gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
One wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Tyson has him pressed against the cage.
One is trying to break free.
One lands a nice uppercut.
Tyson fails to pull guard.

Tyson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
One wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Tyson breaks from the clinch.
Jaz One seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Tyson closes the distance and clinches.
One lands with a short shot to the head.
One throws a knee to the head but misses.

Tyson manages to break the clinch.
One throws a nice inside leg kick.
Tyson is breathing heavily.
Tyson moves out of range of the leg kick from One.

Tyson forces One back against the cage and clinches.

One trying to stall but Tyson improves his position.
Tyson wants to get back to striking at distance but One won't allow it.

Tyson wants the takedown. One is fighting it off but Tyson persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in One's guard against the cage.

Tyson wants to lay and pray for a moment but One keeps working.

Tyson stops One from getting back to his feet.

Tyson is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Tyson is keen to just control but One is a slippery customer.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Tyson stands up out of the half guard.
Tyson misses with a body shot.
Tyson fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. One looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

letting Tyson counter with a right hand.

One looks to land a combination but Tyson avoids it well.

One uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Tyson.
Tyson's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Tyson duly obliges.


It looks like Jaz One has been cut.

Tyson has One up against the cage in a clinch.
One wants to break the clinch but can't.

Tyson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Tyson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A low kick from One is predictable there

and Tyson counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tyson seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
One is breathing heavily.

Tyson decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Mike Tyson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

One is looking to stand up but Tyson isn't so interested in that idea.
Tyson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

One keeping moving, preventing Tyson from controlling successfully.
Tyson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Tyson.
One throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Tyson makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

and One counters with a series of strikes. Tyson will be more careful next time no doubt.
Jaz One is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Tyson drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
One taking a bit of punishment here - Tyson scoring with strikes.
Tyson connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused One some visible discomfort.
Tyson wants to control for a moment but One uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.

and Tyson counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
One uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Tyson throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
One swats away the attempt to clinch by Tyson.

Tyson is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Tyson decides to take the fight back to the feet.

One lets loose with a powerful body kick. Tyson will feel that in the morning.

Tyson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with One, pushing him back against the cage.

Tyson throws a right and a left that One avoids nicely.

Tyson misses the shot to the body.
One scores with a nice right hand.
One wants to clinch but Tyson slips to the side

and Tyson counters with a single leg into guard. One didn't expect that.

One kicks Tyson off and gets to his feet. Tyson circles away from the clinch attempt
and Tyson counters with a big head kick but One shrugs it off.
Tyson buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Tyson wants to break the clinch but can't.
Tyson tries for a takedown. No joy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mike Tyson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A body shot lands from One.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
With the fighters up against the cage, One throws an elbow but misses.
One working aggressively here.
One lands an uppercut.
Tyson fails to pull guard.
Jaz One has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Tyson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
