Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Yoshi Doi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aki Sirkesalo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yoshi Doi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Aki Sirkesalo!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Doi scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Sirkesalo throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Doi stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Sirkesalo scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Doi shoots for a takedown but Sirkesalo saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Doi lands with a slapping head kick.
Sirkesalo scores with a nice right hand.

Doi closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Sirkesalo quickly recovers to half guard.
Doi wants to stand up but Sirkesalo has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Sirkesalo wants to stand and escape but Doi is having none of it.

Horrible takedown by Doi or perhaps it was just good defense by Sirkesalo which made him look bad.

Doi closes the distance and clinches up with Sirkesalo, looking for a takedown. Doi pushes Sirkesalo against the cage but Sirkesalo circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Aki Sirkesalo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Doi shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Sirkesalo pinned against the cage. Sirkesalo gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Sirkesalo moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Doi shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Sirkesalo misses the jab.
Doi walks into a stiff left hand from Sirkesalo.
Doi fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Doi shoots in looking for a takedown but Sirkesalo manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Doi's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Sirkesalo goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Doi fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

That was a close round but I would say that Yoshi Doi will probably get the nod.

Doi's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Sirkesalo lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

and Doi counters with a takedown into side control.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Sirkesalo is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Doi has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Doi shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Sirkesalo defends it nicely.

Doi throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Sirkesalo was covering up waiting for the punch and Doi finishes the takedown easily into guard.
