Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Saiquin Raven (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Al Grind (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Al Grind will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Saiquin Raven! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Al Grind! The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Hugh Johnson and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Raven drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Raven tries to advance to mount but Grind denies him. Grind tries to improve position but can't. A lull in the action here as Raven stalls from top position. Grind is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Raven off and has taken his back! Grind missing with strikes from the back. Raven tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Grind is looking to stand but Grind has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.
Raven bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Raven stands and throws Grind's legs to the side, diving into side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Raven content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Grind is trying to improve his position. Raven remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Grind is looking to regain half guard here but Raven keeps moving and retains side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Grind gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Raven controlling from the full mount. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Grind tries to get back to half guard but can't. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Grind has given up his back.
Raven will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Raven slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Saiquin Raven just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Raven shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Raven was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Grind looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Raven controlling the pace. Raven stands up and beckons Grind to join him on the feet. Grind gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Raven counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Grind! Grind is breathing heavily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Raven controlling the pace for now.

Grind closes the distance looking to clinch and Raven counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Grind makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Grind. Raven controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Raven seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Grind for as long as he can get away with.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Grind throws a wild body kick that Raven sees coming a mile off. Raven looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Saiquin Raven overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Grind moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Raven not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Raven preventing the sweep. Raven not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Raven uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Grind has time to react. Grind closes the distance but Raven moves to the side and Raven counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Grind should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Raven doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Raven manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Raven is stalling in the full guard. Raven wants to control from the top but Grind keeps moving. Raven is stalling in the full guard. Grind scores a takedown into full mount! Grind looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Raven is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Raven is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Grind is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Grind wants to stand but Raven is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.

It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over. Grind tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Raven swivels and escapes. Al Grind seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Grind tries to grapple but his opponent circles so Raven counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Raven sitting in guard, not really doing much. Grind is looking for a triangle but Raven pushes his legs off easily.

No luck for Raven with that takedown attempt. Grind tries to clinch and Raven decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Grind's guard. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Raven works his way back into a safe position though. Raven content to stall in guard here. Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.

And that's the end of the fight! Saiquin Raven showed his dominance in that final round. Well Raven has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
