The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomez shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Simms sprawls well. Simms wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Gomez gets slowly back to his feet.
Simms fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Gomez to the ground. Simms is now in Gomez's guard.
Simms postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
