0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jon Melcher! The judges for this bout are John Roberts, David Schapiro and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nolendo misses with a takedown so Melcher counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Melcher postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Nolendo is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Melcher wants to pass the guard but Nolendo is keeping the position. Melcher in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Melcher postures up in Nolendo's guard and throws a big left but Nolendo blocks it. Melcher throwing strikes but missing. We're going to have a standup here because Christian Nolendo wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Nolendo fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Melcher pushes Nolendo away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Nolendo gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Nolendo slows the pace down. That was a close round but I would say that Christian Nolendo will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Melcher. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Melcher lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Nolendo down.
