Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Aris Mavroeidis!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Konstantin Menshow and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Joe misses with a leg kick.
Joe looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Mavroeidis tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Mavroeidis darts in and clinches Joe up against the cage.

Mavroeidis gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Mavroeidis decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Mavroeidis tries for a takedown but Joe sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Joe throws a left and a right that both miss

and Mavroeidis decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Joe's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Aris Mavroeidis was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Mavroeidis changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Joe looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Joe knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mavroeidis on the ground.
Joe trying his best to control but Mavroeidis has mounted him.

Joe defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Mavroeidis.
Joe is bucking up trying to escape but Mavroeidis cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Mavroeidis takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Joe on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Joe tries to get out of the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Aris Mavroeidis dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Mavroeidis bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Mavroeidis has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Joe in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Mavroeidis postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Joe looks a forlorn figure.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Aris Mavroeidis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Joe throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Mavroeidis moves into the clinch.

Joe breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Mavroeidis shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Mavroeidis wants to clinch
and Joe counters with a series of strikes. Mavroeidis will be more careful next time no doubt.
Mavroeidis tries to bum rush Joe with a series of wild strikes but Joe uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Joe displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Mavroeidis.
Mavroeidis looks to score with a jab to the body but Joe is just out of range.
Mavroeidis looks to land a body kick but Joe moved away.
Nice cross by Joe.
Mavroeidis is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Mavroeidis closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Joe did well to prevent Mavroeidis getting side control.

Mavroeidis decides to stand and escape the position.

Mavroeidis closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Mavroeidis lands in his opponent's guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Aris Mavroeidis hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Mavroeidis gets a clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Joe's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Joe tries to circle away but Mavroeidis has him pinned against the cage.
Mavroeidis has Joe pressed against the cage, preventing Joe from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Mavroeidis pulls guard.
Mavroeidis keeping moving, preventing Joe from controlling successfully.
Mavroeidis has a closed guard, preventing Joe from standing up.
Joe working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Mavroeidis pushes a forearm under Joe's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Joe is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
