PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Adrian Pasco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Adrian Pasco!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mike Jones!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, William Peck and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pasco gets caught flat footed, as Jones shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Jones looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Jones pushing down on Pasco's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Pasco gets full guard.
Pasco looking to control.
Jones wants to control from the top but Pasco keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jones slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Pasco tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Jones is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Jones seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Pasco is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Pasco can't keep his opponent in guard - Jones advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Pasco is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Jones's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Jones's back!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Pasco punches the canvas rather than the man.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Pasco is stalling here. Jones is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Pasco seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Jones has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Pasco bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Pasco thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Jones to regain full guard.

Pasco is looking to work some ground and pound but Jones has wrist control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Jones changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Pasco looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Pasco is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Jones's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jones trying to control but Pasco is having none of it.
Jones looking to finish with strikes here!
Pasco is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Pasco's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Mike Jones will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

and Jones counters with a nice double leg into side control. Pasco won't be happy with that.

Jones decides to take the fight back to the feet.

and Jones counters with a single leg into guard. Pasco didn't expect that.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jones won't allow Pasco to get back to his feet.
Jones trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Jones trying to control but Pasco is working from the bottom.
Mike Jones has got the better of the ground game so far.
Pasco looking to control.

Pasco keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Pasco misses with a takedown attempt - Jones sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Pasco throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Pasco tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Jones misses with a takedown

and Pasco counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Jones!
Pasco throws a sloppy strike and Jones uses the opportunity to reverse the position! A bit of a scramble here and Jones has ended up in Pasco's guard.
Jones sitting in guard here, content to control.
Pasco is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Pasco working a defensive guard but Jones manages to pass into side control anyway.

Jones tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Jones has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Adrian Pasco has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Pasco wants to control but Jones is having none of it.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Pasco is looking to improve his position.
Jones blocks the strikes from Pasco.
Jones looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Jones looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Pasco wants to control but Jones is keeping busy.
Jones missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Mike Jones comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Jones has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
