Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jake Pettis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Clay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matt Clay has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jake Pettis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Matt Clay!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Cecil Peabody and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pettis throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Clay's head.
Clay looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Clay slips a jab and a cross from Pettis.
A combination from Pettis does no damage.
Pettis lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Clay slaps away a takedown attempt from Pettis, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Pettis looks for a takedown but Clay sprawls well.
Clay takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Clay looks to land a body kick but Pettis moved away.
Pettis shoots in for a takedown but Clay shows good takedown defense.

Pettis shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Clay sprawls well. Clay wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Pettis gets slowly back to his feet.
Pettis tries to move into range but Clay moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Pettis shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Clay defends it nicely.

Clay connects with a leg kick. Pettis looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
A right-left combo lands from Clay.
Pettis throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Pettis misses with a takedown attempt - Clay sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Clay tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Pettis was well out of range. Poor timing from Clay.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Pettis throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Clay throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Pettis.
Pettis is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Clay keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Clay throws a wild body kick that Pettis sees coming a mile off.
Clay throws a series of punches but Pettis avoids them all with ease.
Pettis shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Clay sprawls well. Clay wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Pettis gets slowly back to his feet.

Pettis on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Clay crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Pettis - the referee stops the clock and Clay gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Pettis. Clay manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Nice takedown defense from Clay. No joy for Pettis on that attempt.

Pettis avoids a punch combination nicely.
Jake Pettis is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Pettis changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Clay tries to avoid it but Pettis manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Clay to the ground. Clay escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
No luck for Pettis with that takedown attempt.
Clay thows a body kick. Pettis tries to catch it but that hurt him.

and Clay counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Pettis is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Pettis tries to score a power double leg takedown but Clay sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Pettis somewhat.
Clay rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Pettis moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Pettis throws a right and a left that both miss.
Clay avoids the head kick by Pettis.
Clay jabs Pettis to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Pettis throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Clay throws a head kick but Pettis moves out of range.
Clay throws a sloppy head kick and Pettis moves out of range easily.
Clay has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Pettis.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Pettis shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Clay's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pettis seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Clay does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Pettis looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Pettis looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Pettis trying to control but Clay is having none of it.
Clay really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pettis. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Pettis is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Pettis extends the arm and Clay is forced to tap!
