Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jon Hallquist (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Peter Griffin told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jon Hallquist! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Peter Griffin! The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Ivan Kurochkin and Dmitry Maklakov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Griffin shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Griffin showed some decent athleticism there. Hallquist wants to get back to full guard but Griffin has mounted him! Griffin has hold of Hallquist's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Hallquist manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Hallquist is wriggling around trying to escape.
Griffin looking to secure an arm triangle but Hallquist defends it well. Hallquist regains half guard. Griffin is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Hallquist has managed to free his arm - good work. Hallquist tries to roll over but Griffin keeps him under control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Griffin wants to control but Hallquist is keeping him busy. Hallquist punching from the bottom.

Griffin wants to free his trapped foot but Hallquist is holding on for dear life with his legs. Griffin is working for a kimura but Hallquist is defending it quite comfortably.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Hallquist tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Griffin paws at him with a jab and circles away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Hallquist drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Griffin struggling a bit here. Griffin looks to move to half guard but instead Hallquist has passed into mount! Damn! Hallquist tries to control but Griffin wriggling away. Hallquist stands up from mount. Strange move. Hallquist darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Hallquist is breathing heavily. Griffin is staying active underneath Hallquist, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Griffin looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Griffin looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Hallquist looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Griffin is staying active underneath Hallquist, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Griffin trying to hold on to Hallquist's head to control him but Hallquist postures up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Hallquist wants to stand up but Griffin is controlling the position.
Griffin is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Hallquist pulls his head out easily.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Griffin checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Hallquist checks a leg kick. Griffin avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Nice sprawl there from Hallquist as Griffin shoots in. No joy there for Hallquist, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Griffin misses the shot to the body. Hallquist doesn't succeed with the takedown and Griffin counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Hallquist's guard now. Hallquist not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Griffin prevents Hallquist from getting back to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Peter Griffin will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Hallquist looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Griffin swats away the attempt to clinch by Hallquist. Hallquist doesn't succeed with the takedown and Griffin counters with a single leg into guard. Hallquist didn't expect that. Hallquist looking to control.
Griffin drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Hallquist manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Griffin has Hallquist in his guard. Hallquist trying to control but Griffin is working from the bottom. Griffin looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

That's one minute gone in the round. Griffin has his foot on Hallquist's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hallquist works his way back into a safe position though. Hallquist wants to stand but Griffin is controlling his posture from full guard. Griffin throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Griffin tries to land a sweep but no joy. Griffin escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hallquist gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Griffin is on top in guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Griffin looking to pass the guard. Griffin passes Hallquist's left leg - he's now in half guard. Griffin is pressing down on Hallquist's thigh, looking to free his foot. Hallquist is holding on for now. Hallquist manages to get to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Griffin controlling from the top position. Hallquist is trying to keep Griffin in close.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hallquist keeping full guard, as Griffin tries to pass. Griffin preventing the sweep. Hallquist is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Griffin has his hands clasped together but Hallquist extends an breaks Griffin's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Hallquist.
