Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Rockem Sockem!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dennis Pisel!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Roger Salmon and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sockem lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Sockem.
Sockem lands a lovely overhand right.
It looks like Dennis Pisel has been cut.
Sockem throws a hook but Pisel blocks it.
Sockem avoids the head kick by Pisel.
Pisel moves out of range as Sockem strikes.
Sockem tries to sprawl but Pisel drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Pisel decides to return to a standing position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Pisel avoids a punch combination nicely.
Pisel closes the distance and clinches.
Sockem is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Pisel manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Pisel throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Pisel working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sockem doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Sockem manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Sockem stopping the sweep attempt from Pisel.
Sockem throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Pisel works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Pisel utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Pisel pulls Sockem in close to prevent any damage.
Sockem might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Sockem has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Pisel to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Sockem is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Pisel pulls down on the head and he's put Sockem to sleep! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Dennis Pisel!
