Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Fedor Obsut!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Dennis Oppelaar!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Yves DeLean and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oppelaar misses with a combination

and Obsut counters with a nice double leg into side control. Oppelaar won't be happy with that.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Oppelaar is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Obsut is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Oppelaar has escaped the position, nice work there.
Obsut cracks Oppelaar with a big right hand but Oppelaar just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Oppelaar is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Obsut is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Oppelaar!

Obsut has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Oppelaar is looking for a sweep. Obsut is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Oppelaar is trying to maintain the position but Obsut is very close to passing his half guard.

Obsut is working for a guillotine from mount but Oppelaar frees his head quite easily.

Oppelaar is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Obsut pulls his head out easily.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Obsut connects with a nice short shot to Oppelaar's temple.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Obsut seems to be working for a kimura but Oppelaar defends the submission attempt.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Oppelaar working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Obsut doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Obsut manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Oppelaar is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Obsut defends well.
Oppelaar is wriggling around but Obsut manages to pass to half guard.

Obsut is trying to control the action in half guard but Oppelaar is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Oppelaar is looking to get back to is feet but Obsut passes into side control.
Obsut cracks Oppelaar with a big elbow.
Oppelaar is trying to control Obsut's posture but Obsut avoids it.
Obsut in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Oppelaar is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Oppelaar is rocked!
Oppelaar takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Oppelaar is still in real trouble! Can Obsut finish him?
Obsut scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Oppelaar is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Obsut can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Fedor Obsut!
