The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Jeff Smith and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barr closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Hughes is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Barr is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Barr trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Barr lands with some strikes.
Barr is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Hughes to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Hughes shrugs it off.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hughes gets back to half guard.
Barr trying to control the action but Hughes is working from the bottom.
Hughes moves into full guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hughes looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Barr is defending well. Hughes quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Barr has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Hughes celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Manuel Hughes!
Manuel Hughes bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
