Russo has chosen Volbeat - The Human Instrument as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
24 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ash Thomas! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
28 - 13 - 2, fighting out of Amsterdam, Vinny Russo! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Dillan Fox and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Thomas drops his hands momentarily and Russo takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. A slapping body kick lands there for Russo. Thomas will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Thomas scores with a kick to the midsection. Thomas is looking to score with low kicks. Russo connects with a leg kick. Thomas looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. A punch combination from Russo misses. Thomas misses with a kick to the body and Russo counters with a lovely straight right hand! Russo tries to close the distance and clinch up but Thomas swats him away and circles back towards the center. Thomas looks to land a left hand but Russo moved out of range nicely. Thomas takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Thomas gets caught napping as Russo dives in and scores a takedown. Thomas manages to retain guard. Russo throwing strikes from guard but Thomas blocks nicely. Thomas is trying to control the position from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Russo won't allow Thomas to sweep him here. Russo content to stall in guard here. Russo throws a big elbow that misses. Russo lands a couple of elbows. Russo working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Thomas's head. Thomas keeping moving, preventing Russo from controlling successfully. Russo looking to pass the guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Russo wants to control from the top but Thomas keeps moving. Russo pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Thomas is keeping the position for now. Thomas has control of Russo's left arm, preventing Russo from doing any damage. Thomas is trying to keep Russo in close.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Ash Thomas. Thomas on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Thomas misses with a low kick.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Thomas tries a head kick but it misses.
Russo scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Thomas looks to throw a body kick and Russo counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Thomas is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Russo throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. Russo lands a jab to the head.
Thomas takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Ash Thomas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Russo closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Russo is working to tighten is grip on Thomas's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Thomas has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Russo is really squeezing tight and eventually Thomas passes out! Russo breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Vinny Russo looked relieved post fight as he said the following; 'Hey, I knew a guy named Ash once - not this guy here, but another guy. I think he flunked 3rd grade or something. I dont know.
