Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Frank Carlyle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Test Ninja (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ninja has chosen Super Bon Bon - Soul Coughing as his entrance music. Test Ninja acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Frank Carlyle! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Test Ninja! The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Alexandre Firmino and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carlyle feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Ninjas jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Carlyle throws a nice looking combination but Ninja bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Carlyle looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Ninja has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Carlyle is working away from the top position though. Ninja is pressing down on Carlyle's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Carlyle pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ninja is keeping the position for now. Ninja keeping moving, preventing Carlyle from controlling successfully. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ninja has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Carlyle can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Ninja keeping full guard, as Carlyle tries to pass.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ninja is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Ninja throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Carlyle working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Ninja throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Carlyle wants to get up but he can't break Ninja's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Carlyle is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Ninja can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Carlyle controls the pace. Ninja is looking for a triangle but Carlyle pushes his legs off easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ninja is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Carlyle defends well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carlyle gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Carlyle fails with a takedown attempt. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Carlyle scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Carlyle lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Carlyle. Carlyle has his takedown stuffed and Ninja counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Ninja. Ninja trying to control the position from guard on top but Carlyle is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ninja seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Ninja tries to free his leg and advance position but Carlyle is retaining full guard. Ninja is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Carlyle is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Test Ninja hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Ninja decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Ninja looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Ninja is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Carlyle is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Ninja jumps into side control!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ninja is working to tighten is grip on Carlyle's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Carlyle has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Ninja is really squeezing tight and eventually Carlyle passes out! Ninja breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Test Ninja! Our winner, Test Ninja, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
