The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Jeff Smith and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Arakas tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Son counters with a single leg into guard. Arakas didn't expect that.
Son drops back looking for a leg! Arakas is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Arakas manages to kick Son off! Son jumps back into Arakas's guard.
Son with a flurry of punches that miss.
Arakas wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

and Arakas counters with a head kick. That will keep Son thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Arakas shoots for a double leg takedown but Son sprawls well. He's pushed Arakas's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
