Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mirko Arakas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Son (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mirko Arakas! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Joe Son! The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Jeff Smith and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Arakas tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Son counters with a single leg into guard. Arakas didn't expect that. Son drops back looking for a leg! Arakas is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Arakas manages to kick Son off! Son jumps back into Arakas's guard. Son with a flurry of punches that miss. Arakas wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Son throwing strikes from guard but Arakas blocks nicely. Son throws a big right hand that misses. Son trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Son is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
That's one minute gone in the round. Son trying to control but Arakas is working from the bottom. Arakas is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Arakas utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Arakas is trying to hold Son in close to prevent damage but Son has managed to pass into half guard.
Son working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Arakas's thigh. Arakas counters though and makes it back to full guard. Son drops back looking for a leg! Arakas is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Arakas manages to kick Son off! Son jumps back into Arakas's guard. Arakas is trying to control the position from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Son wants to control from the top but Arakas keeps moving. Son controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Son tries to free his leg and advance position but Arakas is retaining full guard. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Son trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Arakas is adopting a defensive guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Son throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Arakas's waist but Arakas gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Son off to one side. Son misses with a takedown attempt - Arakas sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Son fails with a takedown attempt. Mirko Arakas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joe Son. Son shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Arakas as he jumps to the side. Son tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Arakas swivels and escapes. Son looks winded! Son is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Arakas fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Son avoids it really well and circles away. Arakas misses with a wild combination.
Arakas connects with a high kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Son avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
No luck for Son with that takedown attempt. Arakas is looking to clinch. Son tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Arakas swivels and escapes. Arakas goes for a high kick. It partially lands. Arakas gets a clinch. Son is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Arakas pulls him back up using the underhooks. Arakas lands a nice elbow from the clinch. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Arakas wants a takedown but no success here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Son wants to break free but Arakas has control.
Son is working for takedown but Arakas is calmly controlling the position for now. Son goes for a takedown in the clinch but Arakas prevents it.
Arakas is defending well against a takedown attempt. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Joe Son dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Son throws a push kick but Arakas slaps the foot to one side. Son will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Arakas lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Son defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Arakas. Son takes a jab right on the kisser.
Son manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Arakas on his heels. He'll look to pass Arakas's guard now, I'm sure. Arakas keeping full guard, as Son tries to pass. Son in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Arakas throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Son passes Arakas's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Son is looking for a kimura but Arakas is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Son to get the leverage. Son prevents Arakas from standing back up.
Arakas keeping hold of Son's head, controlling as best he can. Son is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Son lands with a punch from half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Arakas is trying to get back to full guard. Son is looking to take a break and control but Arakas is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Nice strikes from Son there. Son is keen to just control but Arakas is a slippery customer. Arakas gets full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Son chips away with some ground and pound. Son trying to control but Arakas is working from the bottom. Son distracts Arakas with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Son wants to control from the top but Arakas keeps moving. Arakas is trying to control the position but Son postures up. Son drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Arakas dives on top into guard. Joe Son has got the better of the ground game so far. Arakas sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Son's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Arakas with the ground and pound but Son uses the opportunity to regain guard. Arakas won't allow Son to sweep him here. Son pushes Arakas off and scrambles back to his feet.

and Arakas counters with a head kick. That will keep Son thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Son looks to score with a jab to the body but Arakas is just out of range. Son is looking to clinch but Arakas is avoiding it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Son misses with a wild body shot. Arakas takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Joe Son showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Arakas throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Son shoots in and drives through. Arakas sprawls well. Arakas misses with a kick to the body.
Son fails with a takedown attempt from distance. The fight moves into the clinch position. Son takes a knee right on the jaw!
It looks like Joe Son has been cut. Arakas with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Son tries to throw a body punch but Arakas avoids it by throwing Son back against the cage. Arakas lands a knee to the body.
Son takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Arakas changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Son fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Arakas throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
That's one minute gone in the round. Son tries to close the distance and clinch up but Arakas swats him away and circles back towards the center. Nice shot by Arakas. Arakas tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Son dives in and grabs Arakas's left leg, looking for a takedown. Arakas pushes down on Son's head and hops out. Mirko Arakas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joe Son. Arakas cracks the inside of Son's front leg. Arakas shoots in looking for a takedown. Son tries to sprawl out of it but Arakas keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Son manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Son shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Arakas as he jumps to the side. Arakas goes for a high kick. It partially lands. Arakas stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Arakas wants it to stay on the feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Arakas shoots for a double leg takedown but Son sprawls well. He's pushed Arakas's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Son has a takedown stuffed. Arakas fails with an attempt to clinch.
Arakas tries a head kick but it misses.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Arakas. Arakas slips a jab and a cross from Son.
Son closes this distance looking for a takedown but Arakas circles away. Arakas lands with a slapping head kick. Horrible takedown by Son or perhaps it was just good defense by Arakas which made him look bad. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Son keeps the fight on the outside.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Son is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Son fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Arakas looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Arakas moves in looking to clinch but Son pushes him off. Arakas tries to clinch but Son moves out of range. Son misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Arakas is looking to clinch but Son is avoiding it.
Arakas tries to close the distance and clinch but Son swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Son looking to score a takedown here. Arakas is defending well but Son drives through and ends up in Arakas's guard. Son looking to pass the guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Arakas is trying to keep Son in close.
Son drops back looking for a leg! Arakas is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Arakas manages to kick Son off! Son jumps back into Arakas's guard. Arakas is controlling Son's posture. Joe Son is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Arakas is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Mirko Arakas has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Son scoring with punches to the head and body.
And that's the end of the fight! Mirko Arakas showed his dominance in that final round. I think Son has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
