The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Palkkila tries to clinch up but James circles away and keeps his distance.
A left lands for Palkkila.
Palkkila tries to close the distance and clinch up but James swats him away and circles back towards the center.
James tries to score a power double leg takedown but Palkkila sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten James somewhat.
Palkkila digs a good body shot into James's ribs.

James closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
A big left from Palkkila misses.
Palkkila jabs James right on the nose. James blinks but takes it well.
Palkkila smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

James shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Palkkila napping and manages to drive through into side control!
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

James tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no James has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

James has hold of Palkkila's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Palkkila tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - James cranks the arm and Palkkila screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Palkkila, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
