PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ryu Jin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Parachute Man (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ryu Jin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Parachute Man!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Shigeki Sano and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Man throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Jin tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Man is in Jin's guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Jin is wriggling around but Man manages to pass to half guard.
Jin is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Jin taking some punishment here, with Man in his half guard.

Jin looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Man is controlling the pace.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jin trying to control here.
Man content to control rather than advance.
Let's hope that Man has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Parachute Man has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Man shoots in and bounces Jin off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Man is stalling in the full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Man looking to pass the guard.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Parachute Man wasn't active enough on the ground.

Man closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Jin tries to kick Man off but Man keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Jin is looking to improve his position.
Man takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Man thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Man perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Parachute Man hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Man swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Jin closes the distance but Man moves to the side

and Man counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Jin!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jin is in all sorts of trouble here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Man takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Parachute Man dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Man ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Jin pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Man looks for a takedown but Jin sprawls well.
Man circles away from the clinch attempt.
Man looks to score with a jab to the body but Jin is just out of range.

Man shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Man showed some decent athleticism there.
Jin wants to get back to his feet.
Jin wants to control the action here but instead Man manages to pass to full mount!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Man looking to control and managing it successfully.
Man with the ground and pound from mount.
Man cracks Jin with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Jin is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Man controlling his opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jin is trying to escape the mount.
Man is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Jin wants to control but Man is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jin flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Man content just to control the position here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jin is looking to improve his position but Man isn't that keen on the idea.
Parachute Man has got the better of the ground game so far.
Man controlling from the full mount.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Parachute Man.
Man comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Parachute Man showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Man fails to land the takedown.
Jin shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Man sprawls well. Man wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Jin gets slowly back to his feet.
Ryu Jin is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Man shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jin as he avoids it easily.
A head kick misses from Jin.
Man misses with a wild body shot.

Man shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Man was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Man sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Jin is wriggling around trying to escape.

Man tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Jin is looking to improve his position but Man isn't that keen on the idea.
Man lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jin can't escape the position.
Man looking to control and managing it successfully.
Jin is trying to stand.
Jin wants to hold on but Man pushes him away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jin is trying desperately to improve position.
Man tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Jin really wants to buck Man off and get back to his feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Jin keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Man has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Jin's face.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Man controlling the position easily from mount.
Man scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Man sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Ryu Jin has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Man's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

And that's the end of the fight!
Parachute Man comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Man has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
