Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Julius Kordel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cory Scott!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Chris Downing and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kordel scoring well with a low kick there.

Kordel feints and as Scott raises his hands in defense, Kordel changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Kordel is stalling in the full guard.
Scott keeping full guard, as Kordel tries to pass.
Scott keeping moving, preventing Kordel from controlling successfully.

Scott pulls Kordel in close to prevent any damage.
Kordel controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Scott pulls Kordel in close to prevent any damage.
Kordel stays in close to Scott's body and controls the position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Scott pulls Kordel in close to prevent any damage.
Kordel trying to control the position from guard on top but Scott is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Scott is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Scott has his hands on Kordel's head, controlling the position.
Kordel wants to control from the top but Scott keeps moving.

Scott keeping moving, preventing Kordel from controlling successfully.

Scott has Kordel pulled in close to control his posture.
Kordel looking to sit in guard and control but Scott gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Julius Kordel just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Kordel fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Scott looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kordel is fending him off so far but Scott persists. Nope, Kordel circles away and we're back to standing.

and Scott counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Scott seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Kordel wants to control but Scott passes easily into half guard.
Scott uses his free foot to push down on Kordel's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Kordel.
Kordel wants to control but Scott is having none of it.
Scott controlling the pace for now.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cory Scott showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Scott shoots in but Kordel avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Kordel clinches but Scott breaks the clinch

and Scott decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kordel's guard.
Kordel trying to keep a closed guard but Scott is proving a slippery customer.
Scott pushes down on Kordel's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Kordel is looking to control Scott's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kordel avoid being mounted?

Scott prevents Kordel from improving his position.
Scott perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Cory Scott has got the better of the ground game so far.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kordel tries to roll over but Scott keeps him under control.
Scott is controlling the pace.
Kordel wants to improve his position but Scott is controlling well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Well, if Scott is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Despite being in the dominant position, Cory Scott just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Scott fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Kordel misses with a takedown

and Scott counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Kordel's guard now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kordel wants to control the position but Scott says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Scott in particular looking to stall.
Kordel tries to get to full guard but Scott has control of the leg.
Kordel trying to hold on to Scott's head to control him but Scott postures up.
Kordel tries to kick Scott off but Scott keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Cory Scott comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Scott has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
