PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Stefan Roosmalen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Dela Cruz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Steve Dela Cruz told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Steve Dela Cruz!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Radbod Blank and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good leg kick by Roosmalen there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Roosmalen throws a nice outside leg kick.
Roosmalen steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Cruz.
Cruz ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Roosmalen moves away.
Roosmalen misses with a few strikes there.
Roosmalen lands with a shot to the body.
Roosmalen keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Roosmalen scores with a takedown into Cruz's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Roosmalen throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Cruz works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Roosmalen is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

We're going to have a standup here because Stefan Roosmalen wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Roosmalen explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Roosmalen thows a body shot but no joy.

Roosmalen looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Cruz!
Roosmalen looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Cruz holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Roosmalen tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Roosmalen looking to control but Cruz is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Cruz takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Cruz is bucking up trying to escape but Roosmalen cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Roosmalen can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Cruz is looking to escape.
Cruz is in a horrible position here. Roosmalen smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Cruz is still in real trouble! Can Roosmalen finish him?

Oooooh, big shot lands for Roosmalen! Cruz is hurt baaadly! Roosmalen is firing away with more strikes - Cruz is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!

Stefan Roosmalen really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that [WOT] DTK Designs (Laundry) logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
