Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Shane Ross (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Escarino (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ross's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Johnny Cash - Ring of Fire. Escarino has chosen RATM-- Guerrilla Radio as his entrance music. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Shane Ross!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dan Escarino!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Joseph Jones and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Escarino connects with a good right hand that stumbles Ross. Ross circles away out of range and recomposes himself.


Ross is rocked!


It looks like Shane Ross has been cut.
Ross shoots in looking for a takedown. Escarino tries to sprawl out of it but Ross keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Escarino manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Oh Ross is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Ross tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Ross uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Escarino.

Ross scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Escarino regains full guard. Nicely done.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Dan Escarino seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Escarino throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Ross shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

BOOM! Ross connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Escarino is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Ross unloads with some shots from mount but Escarino bucks and avoids them well.
Escarino holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Ross tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Escarino really wants to buck Ross off and get back to his feet.

Escarino really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ross. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ross won't let Escarino get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Ross looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Escarino throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ross.
Escarino throws a lazy right hand but Ross sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
A choreographed right hand from Escarino misses the target.
Ross moves out of range of the strikes.
Escarino throws a hook but Ross avoids it easily.
Escarino wants to land a leg kick but Ross is out of range.
Ross ducks under a wild hook from Escarino.

Escarino chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Ross can pounce on him.
Ross moves out of range of the strikes.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Donk. Escarino catches Ross right on the button with a cross.

Ross closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Escarino is breathing heavily.
Escarino wants to break the clinch but can't.
Ross has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Escarino is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Escarino prevents a takedown attempt there.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Escarino can do anything to dispel that myth.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Escarino throws a right hand that Ross ducks under and follows up with a left that Ross also avoids with ease.

Escarino is trying to break the clinch but Ross has him pressed against the cage.

Ross has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Escarino regains guard immediately.

Ross is looking for a kimura but Escarino is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Ross to get the leverage.

Ross postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Escarino is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Ross, into his guard.
Ross manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Escarino manages to get himself to full guard.

Escarino is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ross accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Dan Escarino has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Ross stands up over Escarino, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Ross loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Escarino can't keep his opponent in guard - Ross advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Ross not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Ross drops an elbow to the side of Escarino's head.

Shane Ross showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ross, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
