Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aaron Archer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alejandro Zapata (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zapata is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Tres Delinquentes. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Aaron Archer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alejandro Zapata!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Alec Ball and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zapata circles away from the clinch attempt.
Archer is looking to clinch but Zapata is avoiding it.

Zapata closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Archer quickly recovers to half guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Zapata trying to control from half guard but Archer is working away.
Zapata is looking to advance position but Archer won't allow it.

Zapata is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Zapata missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Archer knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Zapata on the ground.

Zapata seems to be looking for submissions.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Zapata is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Archer sees it coming and defends easily.
Zapata is looking to stall here but Archer recovers full guard.
Zapata trying to control the position from guard on top but Archer is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Zapata trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Zapata trying to control but Archer is working from the bottom.
Archer is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Archer utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Archer can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Zapata controls the pace.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Archer throws a nice inside leg kick.

Archer just misses with a punch to the body.
Archer throws a low kick, looking for Zapata's leg but Zapata calmly moves out of range.

Zapata throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Archer tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Zapata is in Archer's guard.

Zapata wants to control from the top but Archer keeps moving.

Zapata is fighting to break Archer's control of his arms but Archer is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Archer can't keep his opponent in guard - Zapata advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Zapata passes to full mount!

Zapata swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Archer is now in Zapata's guard. A big mistake from Zapata there, giving up the dominant position!
Archer has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Zapata wants to sweep but no luck.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Zapata shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Zapata showed some decent athleticism there.

Zapata is working for a submission of some sort.
Archer is staying active underneath Zapata, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Zapata moves to the back.

Zapata is working on the RNC. He looks like he's got it but Archer won't tap... Oh, he's out! The ref rips Zapata off his unconscious opponent!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Alejandro Zapata!
An out of breath Alejandro Zapata thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
