Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
19 - 11 - 0, fighting out of London, Head Sparring Coach! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Leopold Scotch! The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Josh West and Colin Fray.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sparring Coach thows a left - swing and a miss! Sparring Coach waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Scotch. Sparring Coach throws a hook but Scotch blocks it. Sparring Coach scores with a hook. Scotch on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Sparring Coach lands with a straight right. Scotch didn't see that one coming. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Scotch. Sparring Coach missing with a left hand there. Scotch was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Scotch displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Sparring Coach throws out the jab. Scotch moves out of range of the body kick. Nice shot lands for Sparring Coach. Scotch connects with a looping right hand.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Scotch swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Scotch uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Sparring Coach.
Good work by Scotch as he checks the leg kick. Scotch misses with a takedown attempt - Sparring Coach sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Sparring Coach displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Scotch throws out the jab.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sparring Coach connects with a jab. Sparring Coach fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Scotch manages to avoid it. Sparring Coach throws a lazy uppercut
and Scotch counters with a lovely shot to the body. Scotch ducks under a wild hook from Sparring Coach. Sparring Coach misses with a right hand and Scotch counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Sparring Coach looks to throw the jab but Scotch is out of range. Sparring Coach tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Scotch is able to avoid easily. Sparring Coach misses with an uppercut. Scotch throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
A bone on bone clash there as Scotch blocks the leg kick.
Scotch with a nice cross. Sparring Coach misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Nice defenses there by Scotch. Scotch takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sparring Coach throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! A decent looking cross lands there for Scotch. Sparring Coach throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Scotch connects with a jab. Sparring Coach throws a lazy uppercut
and Scotch holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Sparring Coach tries to throw a body punch but Scotch avoids it by throwing Sparring Coach back against the cage. Sparring Coach looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Sparring Coach misses with a hook to the ribs.
Sparring Coach breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Sparring Coach scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Scotch throws a jab but it's blocked by Sparring Coach. Scotch misses with a wild body shot. Scotch has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Sparring Coach uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Scotch has time to react. A jab from Scotch does it's job there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A bone on bone clash there as Scotch blocks the leg kick.
Sparring Coach misses with a body shot.
A looping hook to the body misses from Sparring Coach. Scotch does a little dance to reset his feet. Scotch looks to score with a jab to the body but Sparring Coach is just out of range. Sparring Coach throws a lazy right hand but Scotch sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Sparring Coach throws a nice looking combination but Scotch bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Sparring Coach tries to clinch and Scotch cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Sparring Coach swings away with a body shot that misses
and Scotch counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. A slow jab from Scotch misses its intended target. Scotch uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Sparring Coach.
Scotch drops Sparring Coach with a right and a left! Scotch comes rushing in but Sparring Coach regains his composure and manages to keep Scotch in guard.
Sparring Coach is rocked!
It looks like Head Sparring Coach has been cut. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Scotch working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Sparring Coach's head. Oh Sparring Coach is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Scotch is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Scotch preventing the sweep. Sparring Coach is working hard here to advance position. Scotch forces his way into half guard. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Scotch connects with a nice short shot to Sparring Coach's temple. Scotch is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Scotch seems to be working for a kimura but Sparring Coach defends the submission attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Scotch scores with a big shot! Sparring Coach's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Sparring Coach! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Leopold Scotch! After winning the bout, Leopold Scotch thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
