Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
20 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bigfoot Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rico Willis!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Micheangelo Fripello and Chris Saunders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva punishes Willis's body with a nice straight punch.
Willis throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Silva feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Williss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
It looks like Rico Willis has been cut.
Rico Willis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Silva uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Willis tries to clinch up.
Willis dodges the punch combination from Silva.
Willis needs to keep his hands up - Silva had a free shot at his head there.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Silva drops his shoulder and cracks Willis with a huge uppercut! Willis goes down! Can Silva finish him?
Willis is rocked!
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Willis wants to stand and escape but Silva is having none of it.
Willis is still in real trouble! Can Silva finish him?
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Silva working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Willis seems to have recovered his senses.
Silva looking to sit in guard and control but Willis gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Silva wants to stand and escape but Willis is having none of it.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Silva wants to sweep here but Willis controlling him for the moment.
Willis stands up and waves to Silva to follow him.
Willis tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Silva was well out of range. Poor timing from Willis.
Silva scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Silva scores with a jab. Willis acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
That has opened up Rico Willis's cut even more.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Willis moves in looking to clinch but Silva pushes him off.
Willis throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Silva counters with a crisp right that sends Willis to the canvas! Silva follows up with punches from the mount and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Bigfoot Silva!
