Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, George Hattingh! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jouko Jones! The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Marco Blurström and Tarja Halkonen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hattingh throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Jones tries for a takedown but Hattingh circles away easily and Hattingh counters with a nice uppercut. Hattingh looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Hattingh is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Jones seems keen to control Hattingh's posture. Jones's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Jones takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Horrible takedown by Jones or perhaps it was just good defense by Hattingh which made him look bad. Hattingh scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jones can do anything to dispel that myth. Hattingh prevents Jones from improving his position. Jones makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Jones. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jones has a closed guard, preventing Hattingh from standing up. Jones has control of Hattingh's left arm, preventing Hattingh from doing any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jones is on top in guard.
Jones showing good wrestling skills to control the position. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Jones pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hattingh is keeping the position for now. Jones not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Hattingh wants to sweep here but Jones controlling him for the moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jouko Jones. Hattingh moves into range and connects with a jab. Hattingh misses with a body shot.
Hattingh takes a swing at Jones's ribcage but misses. Jones shoots in but no luck this time. George Hattingh has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jouko Jones. Jones misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Hattingh misses with an uppercut
and Jones counters with a nice double leg into side control. Hattingh won't be happy with that.
That's four minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Jones controlling the position. It looks like Jones might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Let's hope that Jones has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Jouko Jones will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Jones throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hattingh's waist but Hattingh gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jones off to one side. Jouko Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hattingh lands with a shot to the body. Jones looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hattingh is fending him off so far but Jones persists. Nope, Hattingh circles away and we're back to standing. Horrible takedown by Jones or perhaps it was just good defense by Hattingh which made him look bad. George Hattingh has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jouko Jones. Jones dodges the punch combination from Hattingh.

Nice takedown defense from Hattingh. No joy for Jones on that attempt. Jones moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. George Hattingh is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. A big left from Hattingh misses. Jones shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hattingh as he avoids it easily. Hattingh misses with a wild body shot. Hattingh scores with a body shot.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Jones takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Jones is breathing heavily. Jones shoots and misses and Hattingh counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hattingh wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Hattingh swinging wildly here.
Jones shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hattingh as he avoids it easily. Hattingh misses with a two punch combination.
Hattingh moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Hattingh throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Jones stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Hattingh shoots in and gets a takedown into Jones's guard. Jones has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hattingh can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Jones working a defensive guard here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hattingh wants to get up but he can't break Jones's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Jones managing to control the position. Jones lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Hattingh! Jones takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Jouko Jones has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Jones throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Hattingh tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Jones is in Hattingh's guard. Hattingh looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jones is one step ahead there. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Jones is stalling in the full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
George Hattingh dominated that second round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
Jones gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily enabling Hattingh to counter with a crisp jab. Hattingh jabs Jones to the body, keeping him at a distance. Jones shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hattingh sprawls well. Hattingh wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Jones gets slowly back to his feet. Jones gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Hattingh makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. George Hattingh has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jouko Jones. Hattingh moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Hattingh leaves Jones with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Jones on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Hattingh. Hattingh obviously looking to wear him down.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Jones moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Jones is rocked! Hattingh fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Jones has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Jones is still on wobbly legs! Can Hattingh finish him? Hattingh shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Jones napping and manages to drive through into side control! Both fighters are breathing heavily. Hattingh wants to stand but Jones has his arm trapped. Jones wants to control but Hattingh postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones is looking for a sweep. Jones seems to have recovered his senses. Jouko Jones has got the better of the ground game so far. Hattingh is looking to take a break and control but Jones is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Hattingh working away. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Jones regains half guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Hattingh keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Hattingh throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Hattingh is trying hard to land a takedown here. Jones sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Jones dives in and grabs Hattingh's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hattingh pushes down on Jones's head and hops out. Jones fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Jones takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Hattingh delivers a nice body kick. Hattingh cracks a nice hook into Jones's ribs. Hattingh displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Jones. Hattingh scores with a nice strike.

Hattingh tries to bum rush Jones with a series of wild strikes but Jones uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Jones closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hattingh circles away. Hattingh pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Jones back to the cage. Hattingh follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. Horrible takedown by Jones or perhaps it was just good defense by Hattingh which made him look bad. Hattingh scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Jones looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Jones is controlling the pace.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
