Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rey Mesterio! The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pilpipka throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Mesterio was covering up waiting for the punch and Pilpipka finishes the takedown easily into guard. Pilpipka controls from within his opponent's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mesterio keeping moving, preventing Pilpipka from controlling successfully. Mesterio controls Pilpipka momentarily but Pilpipka frees himself. Pilpipka not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Pilpipka is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Pilpipka content to stall in guard here. Pilpipka thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Mesterio keeping full guard, as Pilpipka tries to pass. Pilpipka postures up.

Pilpipka bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Pilpipka has gone for a leg lock! Mesterio slips out almost immediately though and dives into Pilpipka's guard. Pilpipka had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Mesterio defends it easily. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Pilpipka escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mesterio gives him a little smile and shakes his head. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mesterio can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Pilpipka is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Mesterio really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pilpipka. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Pilpipka looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Damian Pilpipka dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Pilpipka looks to score with a jab to the body but Mesterio is just out of range. Mesterio shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Pilpipka tries to clinch up but Mesterio circles away and keeps his distance. Mesterio throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Pilpipka. Pilpipka clobbers Mesterio with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Pilpipka dives in and scores a takedown into Mesterio's guard. Mesterio is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Pilpipka looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Pilpipka looking for submissions off his back. The fighters are battling for position here. Pilpipka manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Mesterio must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
