Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Akira Llama! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Seishiro Munakata! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Munakata takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
A left lands for Llama. Llama lands a right hook to the body.
Llama connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Munakata gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Munakata misses with a low kick.
Llama jabbing away but nothing is landing. Munakata drops his hands momentarily and Llama takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Llama jabs Munakata to the body, keeping him at a distance. Llama tests Munakata's chin there with a solid looking shot. Llama misses with a looping right. Munakata walks into a stiff left hand from Llama. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Nice uppercut there from Llama.
That's one minute gone in the round. Llama misses with a hook. Munakata ducked under it nicely. Akira Llama is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Munakata takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Horrible takedown by Munakata or perhaps it was just good defense by Llama which made him look bad. Llama fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Munakata on the side of the head. Llama scores with a jab to the body. Llama connects with the punch. Munakata walks into a jab. Munakata takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Munakata drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Munakata with the ground and pound but Llama regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Munakata thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Llama's head. Munakata is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Munakata thows a huge punch but Llama dodges it nicely.
Llama tries to kick Munakata off but Munakata keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Llama keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Llama knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Munakata on the ground. Munakata has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Llama defend it? Munakata steps over the head and cranks it - Llama is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Munakata!
