Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jean Van Dam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Woods (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jean Van Dam! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Woods! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Woods throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Van Dam rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Woods counters with a head kick. That will keep Van Dam thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! Woods lands a nice looking body kick. Van Dam misses with an uppercut. Van Dam throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Woods sees it coming and avoids it easily. Van Dam scores with a crisp jab that stopped Woods in his tracks. Woods looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Van Dam is fending him off so far but Woods persists. Nope, Van Dam circles away and we're back to standing. Van Dam shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Woods's guard. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Van Dam slips nicely into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Woods is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Van Dam's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Van Dam's back! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Woods is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Van Dam has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here. Van Dam wants to escape the position but for the time being he's just trying to control the pace. Woods is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Van Dam knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Van Dam for a finish. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Woods throwing lazy shots from the back mount that aren't doing any damage.

Woods looking to break Van Dam's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Van Dam remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Woods will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! Woods is looking for the choke from the back position but Van Dam is controlling his hands well. Van Dam tries to escape but Woods has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Van Dam tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Van Dam wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Woods.
Van Dam wants to hold on but Woods pushes him away. Woods with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.
Van Dam is looking to get to half guard. Woods with a couple of short strikes. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Van Dam tries to lock up and control but Woods gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Van Dam holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Woods tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Woods looking to secure an arm triangle but Van Dam defends it well. Van Dam is looking to improve his position but Woods isn't that keen on the idea. Woods wants to control the pace but Van Dam is squirming around nicely. Woods prevents Van Dam from getting the reversal. Woods thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

Woods wants to finish this one by submission but Van Dam is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Woods.

Van Dam is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Van Dam gets back to half guard. Woods sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Van Dam defending well though. Van Dam is trying to get back to full guard. Woods has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Woods moves into full mount! Van Dam won't be happy about that! Woods unloads with some shots from mount but Van Dam bucks and avoids them well.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Woods can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Van Dam is looking to escape. Woods punishing his opponent with strikes. Van Dam slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Van Dam tries to get to full guard but Woods has control of the leg. Woods wants to work for an arm triangle but Van Dam is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Van Dam desperately trying to maintain half guard. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Van Dam is trying to stand up here but Woods is controlling him well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jack Woods dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Woods uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Van Dam.

Van Dam fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Woods takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Van Dam thuds a left hand into Woods's body. Van Dam misses with a looping right. Van Dam misses with an attempted mid kick.
An inside leg kick from Van Dam misses. Van Dam leaves Woods with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Jean Van Dam seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Van Dam throws a hook but Woods avoids it easily. Woods drives through and clinches with Van Dam against the cage.
Woods is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Van Dam gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Jean Van Dam has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Woods. Van Dam misses with the head strike.
Van Dam jumps into guard, dragging Woods to the mat.
Woods looking to pass the guard. Van Dam utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Van Dam is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Van Dam keeping moving, preventing Woods from controlling successfully. The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Woods. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man. Woods won't allow Van Dam to sweep him here. Van Dam is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Woods is trying to control but can't.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Van Dam in particular looking to stall. Woods is pressing down on Van Dam's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Jack Woods has got the better of the ground game so far.

Van Dam will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Van Dam keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Woods's head. Woods pulls Van Dam in close to his closed guard and prevents Van Dam from doing any damage or advancing position. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Woods has momentary wrist control but Van Dam slips an elbow through the middle. Van Dam has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Van Dam tries to free his leg and advance position but Woods is retaining full guard. Woods looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jean Van Dam. Van Dam looks to score with a jab to the body but Woods is just out of range. Van Dam swings for the body but Woods moves out of range.

You can see the frustration on Woods's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Woods is trying to improve his position. Woods manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! The fighters are battling for position here. Van Dam manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A jab lands there for Van Dam. Jean Van Dam is winning the standup battle so far. Some bone on bone action there as Woods checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Van Dam cracks Woods with an open hand slap. Woods digs a good body shot into Van Dam's ribs. Van Dam avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Van Dam is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. Van Dam throws a shot from downtown. Woods moves away and avoids it. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Van Dam misses with a looping left. Woods uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Van Dam. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Van Dam is looking to chop away at Woods's legs. Van Dam throws a body punch but Woods moves out of range. A cross from Van Dam lands.
