PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Golden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nolan Sackett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sackett has chosen Bad To the Bone as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The key to victory for Mark Golden has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Sackett.
Sackett is looking to clinch.

Golden shoots in and bounces Sackett off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Sackett tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Sackett is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Sackett is looking for a triangle but Golden pushes his legs off easily.
Golden postures up and lands a big shot to Sackett's brow.
Sackett lands some strikes from the bottom.

Sackett working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Golden doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Golden manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Sackett looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Sackett manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Golden manages to get himself to full guard.
Golden is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Golden controls Sackett momentarily but Sackett frees himself.

Golden can't keep his opponent in guard - Sackett advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Sackett is trying to work for a kimura but Golden is defending well.
Golden manages to get to full guard.
Golden is breathing heavily.

Golden is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Sackett is controlling him.

Sackett drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Golden dives on top into guard.

Golden would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Golden avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Sackett is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Golden is trying to control but can't.
Sackett working over Golden with some ground and pound. Golden looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sackett is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Sackett lands a nice shot to the head.
A nice elbow there by Sackett.
Sackett with shots to the head and body - Golden looks very uncomfortable down there.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Golden is trying desperately to improve position.
Sackett punishing his opponent with strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nolan Sackett dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Golden doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Sackett counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Golden is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Nolan Sackett has got the better of the ground game so far.

Sackett postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Golden is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Sackett, into his guard.

Sackett is looking for a triangle but Golden pushes his legs off easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Sackett has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Golden doesn't defend quickly enough and Sackett has managed to lock this one up! Can Golden escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Sackett on a fantastic submission victory.
