PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Juan Perez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juan Gonzalez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Perez comes to the cage accompanied by Kill The Noise Pt. 1. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Juan Gonzalez!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Perez throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Gonzalez's head.

Gonzalez darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Perez regains full guard. Nicely done.

Perez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gonzalez gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gonzalez's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Perez looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Gonzalez throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Perez works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Gonzalez throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Gonzalez loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Gonzalez stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Perez swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Perez has momentary wrist control but Gonzalez slips an elbow through the middle.

Gonzalez postures up in Perez's guard and throws a big left but Perez blocks it.

Gonzalez must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Perez has his foot on Gonzalez's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gonzalez works his way back into a safe position though.
Gonzalez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Perez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Gonzalez looking to improve position, pressing down on Perez's thigh with his hand. Perez seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is Gonzalez paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! Gonzalez's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Perez picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!

Juan Perez tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
