Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, J R Crain! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jose Ananias! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Cecil Peabody and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ananias cracks Crain with an open hand slap. Ananias lands with a hook. Crain tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Ananias throws a shot to the body.
Ananias throws a right hand that misses
and Crain counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Ananias's guard now. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Crain trying to control but Ananias is working from the bottom. Ananias wants to stand but Crain is controlling the position. Ananias is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Crain dives into side control.
Ananias is working to avoid the ground and pound but Crain connects with a decent elbow. Crain controlling the position. Crain looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Crain goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Ananias rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Crain's guard! Nice work there by Ananias!
That's one minute gone in the round. Ananias wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Crain's closed guard. He's half up but Crain has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Crain pivots and extends the arm, Ananias falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Crain! Well done that man!
