Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vitor Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Mason (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mason is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Slayer-Dead Skin Mask. Vitor Silva has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Vitor Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Mason!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Edson Gomes and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mason shoots for a takedown but Silva saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Mason looks to land a left hand but Silva moved out of range nicely.
Mason swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Silva counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Silva blocks an elbow strike.
Mason blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Silva wants to break the clinch but can't.
Mason with a knee to the head.


It looks like Vitor Silva has been cut.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Mason throws an elbow but it misses.
Knees to the body from Mason.
Silva on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Mason letting Silva take a breather here.
With the fighters up against the cage, Mason throws an elbow but misses.
Silva is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Mason pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Silva is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Mason gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Mason lands an elbow inside that Silva shrugs off.

Mason tries to score a power double leg takedown but Silva sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mason somewhat.

Silva shoots in looking for a takedown. Mason tries to sprawl out of it but Silva keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Mason manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Mason connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mason fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Silva on the side of the head.
Mason closes this distance looking for a takedown but Silva circles away.

Mason scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Mason misses with the ground and pound.
Silva prevents Mason from moving into mount.

Mason stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Silva slips a jab from Mason.
Silva throws a series of punches but Mason moves out of range.

Mason lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Silva circles away quickly and effectively.
Mason lands a nice shot that snaps Silva's head back.
Silva slaps away a takedown attempt from Mason, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Mason throws a big shot that misses.
Mason misses with an uppercut. Silva saw that one coming.
Mason is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Silva.
Silva moves out of range of the body kick from Mason.
Mason takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Mason looks winded!
Mason fails to land the takedown.

Silva moves into the clinch.
Silva is looking to take this one to the mat.
Mason looking to stall.

Silva is trying to pull guard but Mason turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Silva tries to pull guard but Mason won't allow it.
Silva takes an elbow to the temple.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Mason pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Silva tries to pull guard but Mason holds him up against the cage and eventually Silva drops back down to his feet.
Mason can't find room to land a body shot as Silva controls the action.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Silva takes an elbow to the temple.
Mason is pressed up against the cage. Silva has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Mason down to the mat. Mason avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mason tries a knee to the head but Silva blocks it.
Mason creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Silva's defenses.
Silva is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Silva prevents a takedown attempt there.
Mason gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Mason trying to stall but Silva improves his position.

Silva jumps guard but Mason stands there with Silva around his waist. Silva gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Mason tries to work over Silva's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Silva is trying to drag Mason to the mat but Mason just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Come on Mason - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Silva is pressed up against the cage. Mason has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Silva down to the mat. Silva avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Mason throws a lazy right hand but Silva sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Mason shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Silva pinned against the cage. Silva gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Silva closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Silva drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

The referee is keeping an eye on Mason - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Mason lands a nice elbow.
Mason misses with a hook to the ribs.
Mason is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mason putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Silva in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.

Mason tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Mark Mason showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Silva is trying to break free.
Silva fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Mason breaks from the clinch.

Mason lands a left and a right that send Silva crashing to the mat, dazed. Mason thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Mason misses with a takedown attempt - Silva sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Mason tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Silva was well out of range. Poor timing from Mason.
A cross from Mason lands.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Mason enables Silva to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Mason manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Silva pushes down on Mason's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Silva is trying to work for a kimura but Mason is defending well.

Silva is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Mason wants to improve his position but Silva is controlling well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Silva wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mason keeps working.
Mason is trying to stand.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mason is looking for a sweep. Silva is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Mason pushes Silva off looking to stand but Silva dives back in and keeps control.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Silva has a takedown stuffed.
Silva tries to land a leg kick but Mason saw it coming and moves away.
Silva shoots in for a double leg but Mason sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Vitor Silva. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mason throws a shot from downtown. Silva moves away and avoids it.

Mason bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Mason wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Silva, who protects the arm well.
Mason wants to lay and pray for a moment but Silva keeps working.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mason misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Mason working the ground and pound but Silva is defending the strikes.
Vitor Silva has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Mark Mason is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Mason is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Silva has escaped the position, nice work there.

Mark Mason comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Mason has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
